New to the site so just wanted to say hello to all. I've been on and off the site for the past week or so and noticed that pretty much everyone on here is in the detailing trade and you all have good comments about a lot of things pertaining to auto detailing. Well I'm currently in the early stages of trying to start my own mobile detailing business. Right now I'm in the middle of writing my own business plan and I'm kinda stuck on financial parts of it. Also considering just having a professional do it for me, I like to get things done myself but I'm really puzzled and dont want to mess it up because I know that a business plan is also the do or die point as far as getting any financial help from any bank or investor. I've been doing detailing on and off for about 10 years or so, detailed cars at a dealership in college and enjoy doing my own vehicles on my free time but never really had any professional type training on it. I've been researching training schools around the country and found a few good one but was wondering was it worth the money they're charging? Also most of those schools offer there own detailing packages such as trailers, equipment, products, etc.. but I was wondering would I save a whole lot of money if I just buy my own rig and build it from scratch? I have a great full time job but I've been wanting to do this for a while now and I think now is the time. I was looking to start off part time and go from there, so if anyone has any tips or suggestions, I'm very open to any thought you may have, thank ya'll and enjoy your day!
 
Welcome to the forum. Lots of good members pro and hobbist alike. Your off to a good start with a carefull business plan. Leave room for flexibility things can change fast. Now is a good time to figure out your target market. You can cater to the higher end or more upscale production. Even blend both, there are pros and cons either way. Just always do quality work.

Todd has some great articles on how to and product use. The search box can also be your best friend. As always don't be afraid to ask if there is something you can't find. As a pro I have found the members input here to be valuable on product selection/use.
 
Welcome to Autopiaforums Jaypee, loads of information here and IMO you should save the money and buy everything use ( trailer, water tank ) at a auction and grow from there. You have the basic's down already, that way you start small and build up your customer's base and get the word out of your business. Best of luck and any questions please be free to ask us here.
 
Welcome to AF! And I'd save the money and ask questions as needed here! This is truly the most helpful bunch I've ever seen when you need advice! Not to mention the roster of members here are all stars when it comes to detailing. Every time I do a car since I've been on here I push to get better because of this forum. Best of luck to you!

Hello and Im new here also. I would start off slow so you dont over spend and take the risk of it not working out...just in case..no business is 100% that it will succeed. So again start off slow and get a good and steady client base..I.E. Referrals. I have a referral program that pays clients that have done business with me to bring me other people just by showing them their newly cleaned and highly reflective ride or rides. Get your basic tools and slowly get more product so you dont over spend. That is what has been working for me. Good Luck.

Let me help you with your business plan....go out and get some business and make sure you're commited to this before going in debt to the bank/investor....the lender becomes master to the slave :howdy
