ok guys, I got some money for christmas, so what products should I buy? Polishes and sealants are what I need more of. I have a PC and lots of mf's so use take that into consideration also.

How about a present for me? ;)

It would really help to know what you actually have on hand and what your detailing goals are.

Oh! get some Klasse and Sonus stuff. OH OH and get some P21S

:shocked

I'll hook you up guy. Sonus SFX Polishes and Pads are killer. There now the offical polishes of premier detailing. Get some Sonus Paint Cleaner and Clay. Sonus Acrylic Spritz to use after washes. You can't do a car without Klasse SG and AIO. P21S is the best carnuba out there! Those are the products I use now. I have been using Klasse for 10 years. Been handed down in my family.

Lucky you for having money to buy some supplies. I did my big reup in Novemeber.

are you new to detailing? what products do you have now, and what products have you used in the past? what types of cars will you be detailing, and how are the finishes? answer those questions, and i'll give you some advice...

Sorry for not putting in more detail in my first post. I want products that will work in a broad range of applications. My car is dark blue metallic, I also do some cars that are bright red, sliver, flat black *non metallic*, and gold. Among others. I need stuff that goes on fairly easy, if it takes a little time, thats ok, I would rather spend longer and get good results then do a quick hack job. I need to remove light to moderate swirls, and maintain the finish afterwards. As far as wheels I have to do everything from 22's in chrome to 15's that are factory. Right now I have megs cleaner wax, New megs GC, #26, NXT, black magic for interior, costco multi-purpose, a carpet cleaner (the brand name excapes me right now but it works great, I'll post the name tommarow), megs endurance, high gloss and non, Megs leather foam, Megs dash&trim foam, several MF's, terry apps, two absorbers, a 5 horse 4 gallon shop vac, a PC, but I need more pads, Hotshine tire spray, black magic tire wipes, wheels cleaner thats the same brand as the upholstery cleaner listed above, and several brushes and sponges, and an interior duster. I am planning on picking up some #83, #80, #16, and some more stuff that you gusy recommend. How am I doin so far?

Thanks man, I have been closely looking at the Klasse twins, and the sonus pads. I can't wait to get all my new supplies, I have about 200-250 to spend maybe more, so I should be gettin enough to fill my truck lol.

If anybody needs more info on what I'm looking for Just ask

So far I have made a short list, corrections and critisism are welcome.

1. Sonus DAS pads

2. EX-9

3. Klasse twins

I seriously need more than that. and more suggestions on what works best with what. Because so far, I've read so much about just product descriptions that my head hurts. Again I htank you guys soooooo much for all the help I've gotten on here. And now I have the bug more than ever. Just this morning I went outside, and looked at my neighbors car and got the urge to clean them. I live in an apartment, but that is not an issue because I have a HUGE workshop that I can use, with hot water available. The area is big enough that I can fit a ford econoline in it and close the door, I LOVE IT!

#83, #80 and #16 are a good start. You also should get a light polish/glaze to maintain the finish after deep polishing, like Klasse AIO, Clearkote's Vanilla Moose or Poorboy's Polish w/carnauba.

I really like the Meguiars Soft Buff pads, but some here like other pads more. You might want to get a few from a couple manufacturers and see what you prefer.

Thanks scott, those have crossed my mind, but I always start looking at other besides the VM, I need to look closer at them. I will try the megs pads, I have a paint shop near buy that I think sells them I will ahve to look monday.

PS, I forgot to mention above I have the 80g mothers clay right now, I will need more soon cause this bar is small, so should I stick with this or do others seem to work better for everyone?

(I haven't even placed my order(s) yet and I'm already gettin excited about my new products, the sad part is I don't even know what they are gonna be yet lol):bounce Thanks again guys this is so great having a place to come and ask questions like this, if I asked any of my friends a question like this I would get the same look I give my girlfriend when she asks me what shoes she should wear. Again I thanks you guys and look forward to many more years of visiting these boards and hopefully being able to help someone else thats in this same position one day. :wavey

Clay Magic and the new Meguiars clay bars are the same. You can probably get one of the Meguiars blue bars (mild) when you get the pads.

Good luck and let us know how you like the particular products you try.

I'll def. post up my opinions on the products I get, I'll get some pics too. Hopefully I can get some good light to work with. My shop just has some regular incandecent light up top, but we have several halo. work lights. I will get some pics the next time I detail my bosses car. (he's the one with the 22's.

Ok, I have come up with what should be the final list. Everyone, again comments and critisism are welcome and wanted.

1. Hight Temp-Light Cut

2. Klasse AIO, SG

3. Menzona FP

4. P21S

5. PB Natty's

6. PB EX-P

7. Megs 83

8. VM

9. #16

10. Sonus DAS pads, with extra polishing, and finishing.

Some of these are meant to do the same thing, but I am having a hard time deciding which variant to go with, this is where it gets hard to decide. I mean hell I personally can't tell whats harder, choosing a car or choosing what to use on it. Anyways no orders have been placed yet so let me know what you think, what I could do without, what I can't do without, what I should add anything goes. I have about 40 or so left after getting all of this, but of course like anyone else I would like to spend as little as possible but still be happy with the results. (everyone here at the house is looking at me like I'm crazy for putting so much thought and time just into buying products, non autopians, will they ever understand? )

Zaino kit: Z2-ZFX-Z6-Z16- Z10 if you have leather.

Polishes, menzerna IP and FPII.

Cleaner- either AIO or p21s

As for SG, not again until they reformulate it or come up with a klasse QD made for a removal aid.

Removal aid for SG? It's called not baking it on. Put a dime size and work the hood and bumper. It's the best bargain in the biz. A bottle will last you along time. I spray some Sonus Acrylic on the pad I use when applying, but to need anything to get it off is crazy. I use a Concours Buffing Towel and it comes off easy. Just don't put to much on.

All you need is these:

Clay Magic

Sonus Paint Cleaner

Sonus SFX Polishes-Great results and easy. Only 3 polishes that cure all problems.

Klasse AIO and SG-6 Months of protection and clean paint?! Can't beat it!

P21S-100% Carnuba wax with a touch of bezz wax to add durability and a untouched shine.

Klasse is the king. They haven't changed anything with it in 38 yrs. why would they change it now.

Ok, I got some megs pads and a backing plate today, along with 83, and 80. I am going to try that with some 26 and see how it works. I know I will be getting some more products and will post as I do. I am going to pick up the backing plate and the polishing pad tommarow so I will post a review and a pic, if I can get my camera to hold a charge, tommarow. I purchsed these things all locally and paid a total of 35 for a quart of each polish, 20 for the plate, and 10 each for the pads. I am going to place an order for EX-P and a few others next week. I'm so excited lol.

Excellent choice in products, you won't be disappointed. Just remember to take your time and let the polish do the work. Start off with medium to moderate pressure and slowly let up until your last few passes are with the weight of only the machine and try to stick to 2x2 sized areas at a time. If you do this, you should be very happy. Have fun!

Ok for tommarow my steps are going to be:

1. Wash with deep crystal wash

2. Clay with mothers

3. Use 80 with polishing or finishing, I'm not sure which one yet, but I have hardly any swirls, actually you can only see them if I park under halo's and look closely.

4. NXT

5. 26x2

Does this sound good? Anything I should change anything I should add, I can't wait to get started it should be the best my car has ever looked. (btw its a catseye blue 03' suzuki aerio GS, dark metallic blue should look amazing(

Sounds good to me. Use the polishing pad with #80 or you will be there forever and then use your finishing pad with NXT.

No problem, buddy. Detailing is all trial and error. Lucky for us, we have Autopia to limit the amount of errors! :xyxthumbs

BTW, love your sig. ;)
