what to do

Hi,

I am busy touching in the paint chips on my car with a view to wet sanding with unigrit 3000. What is the ideal product to use with my DA to get the marks out that the the 3000 leaves.

I know that the general advise is to use the lightest cut possible but I was wondering what product and pad would be the best way to go to do a real nice job. I would imagine that 3000 unigrit is not going to leave too much marking behind.

cheers

Yeah, the 3K unigrit is pretty mild. IME the scratches in the touchup paint aren't the controlling issue, but rather you have to worry about the sanding scratches in the surrounding factory paint.

What it'll take will depend on how hard that paint is, but IMO the short-answer in most cases is now Meguiar's M105 (followed by something milder). Their Ultimate Compound might do the job too. If your paint is soft you could try their Swirl-X.

Come to think of it..the 3K paper might be a little *too* gentle, depending on what degree of leveling you need to do

Wonder what they'd recommend over at Meguiar's Online...
