What to do about boyfriends who detail?

Wait till you hear this one!!!!

I had a good customer cancell an appt. on Dec.23. He called me early Dec.24th and really wanted he and his wifes Jeep cherokees washed and quick waxed. Although I had plans to go to my girlfriends aunts house, I told him I could. I still wanted to do the Christmas family thing with her, but this was one of my neighbors, and not to mention a good customer. It took me two hours with some help to finish the cars. It turns out I ruined Christmas (according to my girlfriend) The cars were all done by 3pm. Can somebody tell me if Im wrong here? Its not like it were her parents, or immediate family. Do I deserve to hear this when good business is involved? Things havent been the same since :boohoo I know this is a little moer personal than on the topic, but I feel all of your pain. :dj :dcrules

use the money you earned to buy her a couple diamond ear rings :). how long did she have this thing planned for? i would be pretty mad if that kinda thing had happened to me, no matter how good the customer. i think a customer would understand that you already had plans for christmas...

I think many people have some type of hobby or obsession that their loved one just doesn't understand. The hobby may consume a lot of time, so it's important to make sure that you have some dedicated one-on-one time set aside for the significant other. Try to schedule your detailing for times that are less intrusive. I would also recommend keeping his/her car well detailed along with your own vehicle(s).

This was on 12/24, right? Not Christmas Day? Did you still spend time at Christmas with her & her family? If so, then I think she is being a little unreasonable in saying that you "ruined" Christmas. Perhaps that's not the real issue here?

On the other hand, could you have started the cars earlier & finished up in time for the "do" at her aunt's? :dunno
