The Rainmaker
I actually checked my calendar to be sure we didn't have a full moon. (Suggested by someone else)

It seems like the past several days we have had a big increase in combative posting.
I'm not referring to disagreements about products or processes, but almost personal attacks.
That's just not DC!
IMO, most of the exchanges would have been better handled in the PM section, but I'm really not interested in chastising someone for the way they handled a situation.
I'd just like to know why we all seem to be so uptight, right now.

FWIW, when I was still in the workforce, the word processor was one of my most valuable tools. I would write a letter or a memo, then just let it simmer for a few hours, go back and read it again. Quite often my reaction was, "Wow, I really didn't want to say that!"
A revision was usually in order to tone down my statements a little. It was/is pretty easy for me, and probably others, to get caught up in the heat of battle, and not realize just how caustic some of our comments can seem to others.
Anyway, it sure would be nice if we could get back to the old DC without so many personal references.
That's all.:)

By the way, I didn't let this one simmer and may regret it. :D

:yeah

Norah

PS - That was one post that didn't need to simmer! You called it right!!

PPS - I didn't let this one simmerr either, but often do so myself.

probably becoz of '911':dunno , I just looked at the calendar, guess who's birthdays coming up

IMO - We all need to agree that we can disagree - without making it personal. I have been away for several weeks and was very suprised to what I came back to.

We can get into disagreements with our blood relatives and a 1/2 hour later forget what the "problem" was and go on with the day. IMO - I like to think of DC as being an extended family. Someone there when you need them for whatever reason.

Just my 2 cents. Time for a Group Hug???

Dave

I agree with you Charles ...
I really don't know what is going on with some of the posts, but I find myself getting caught up in and even defending a post to the point of offending people who have been here longer than me.
If I have offended anyone, I am truely sorry ... Please accept my apologies.
It is only about a hobby or a job here ... it isn't life or death.
Thank you Charles for starting this thread.
It isn't so much about respecting the mullet as it is respecting each other.

Yeah, the respect is probably the key.
I even respect those that disagree with me. They can't help it if they don't know any better.:D

FWIW, how long you have been here shouldn't be the measure of respect.:)
I realize you were just making a comment, but that is how easy it is for someone to take something in a way other than intended.
I'm not one for group hugs, but I do like to see things kept friendly. Been down the not so nice road and it wasn't fun at all.

That is why The Whaler is such a terrific person. He gets slammed constantly but keeps right on studding. The petty stuff just bounces off him. He truly is an exceptional human being!

:yeah

It seems as though we have been getting caught up in the heat of the monemt... for one reason or another.

Charles is right...Maybe we should hit the preview reply BEFORE we just send it.

We have enough fighting in the world...Do we need it here?
just my $.02

we are allowed to have a bad hair day every now and then . ive had a few here and ive been forgiven but i try real hard not to share my opinion on everything i dont agree with . you guys are like family and we can have it out every now and then but lets not destroy our unity ,.. also the fuzz has a way of settling problems here ... he will just remove you from dc. its a real good deterrent ...RESPECT THE MULLET OR FACE HIS WRATH:bigscream :bye :naughty :ranton :chill

once the trashing, flaming, inuendo, mud slinging & ankle biting starts taking over DC, then this BB is reduced to the level of 95% of the other BB's I frequent and that leaves you feeling like you can't post on any thread without being defensive or qualifying every response with "IMHO".

Sharing knowledge, exchanging views, disagreeing like gentlemen ( and ladies) is something we can and should strive to achieve. There's no one out there that knows everything and opinions are just like ......... noses (you thought I was going somewhere else, didn't ya), everybody's got one.

If you're offended by a thread comment, log off.

When you come back to DC later in the day, avoid the thread. Pretty soon it'll migrate off the main page and .... besides .... who cares.

I think what happened here recently with BOSS and NICK was about BOSS feeling NICK was spamming Adams products. I had also read this in a couple of other threads and felt the same way. I just backed up BOSS on his thoughts. I've since PM'd both and there is no problem. Every so often people are going to not agree but that's all part of this. I suppoort this site and its sponsors because I want to keep it alive. I don't use allot of the products sold here but that's only because I have a local store here much like PAC.
What I love about this place is the info and people
