What spray wax would you use?

I was going to get a gallon of OCW, but now I think I'm going to get the smaller container and wait for the reviews on AJ, CJ, and UPP.



Patrick how does UPP compare to OCW?
 
You know it's kind of funny. I tried NXT for the first time this week on a lark (it was on sale!) and I expected it to look good and do a lot of filling. It did do a lot of filling but I wasn't happy with the sealant-esque look, so I ended up putting OCW right over it. Good ol' OCW. You almost convince yourself it can't look as good as it does or be durable since it's so easy to use, but does and is!
 
There is a spray wax called Perfect Detail that accordind to there website will last several months. It has no wax or silicone in it , and is all polymers. It can be used in full sun, and can be layered. It will fill minor swirls and look its best after 3 coats. It can also be used on glass inside and out. Has anybody ever used this product ?

Other then a panel here and there, I have yet to complete a detail with the UPPS..........



Today i had a good test platform, at least for initial evaluations. A 2000 Black Escalade that was prepped with Opt Polish. The passenger sides including 1/2 the hood to rear bumper were treated with Opt Spray Wax, and the drivers 1/2, including 1/2 the hood, all the way back to the rear, were treated with FS UPPS (spray). The roof I treated with a combination of VM, and Opt Spray Wax.

Im very familiar with Opt Spray Wax, and its characteristics. Spray on panel, (or on MF) wipe, buff until clear. Leaves a very slick surface. The beauty of Optimum is its ease of use. It spreads very easily, and the microfiber (or applicator) is very manageable.

UPPS, was applied with the spray applicator, then wiped into the surface. I noticed immediately that it didnt spread as evenly as Optimum. But it didnt require additional wiping to clear out. It nearly cleared out after turning the towel, and wiping again. Not like how alcohol eveaporates, it just didnt leave any haze. I think this is due to its lack of Nuba content. This may also explain why it doesnt spread as even.

I tried to detect a difference in slickness between the two sides but was unable to tell any difference. Of course these are my observations, based on my prep work, and techniques. Naturally, results will vary, and durability has not been determined yet.



Im really becoming quite fond of spray waxes/sealants......

I only have one spray "wax", and that's the NXT Booster Wax. I've used it once and it's stayed on the shelf since simply because it's no easier to use than regular NXT liquid. As far as I'm concerned a spray wax has to be a WOWO product otherwise there's no point in putting it in a spray bottle. The fact you have to let the NXT Booster Wax cure for 15 minutes before removal renderes it useless for me and it just takes up more space.

OCW is every bit as easy to use as a QD.

Now that I finally had time to go nuts on my own car (Optimum, VM, RMG and CMW), topping it with OCW (or maybe Carnauba Jett when I get some) once a month should get me deep into spring.
 
I have used OCW alot and liked it soo much that I bought a gallon of it from Exceldetail last week. Very easy to use, slick, slick finnish, very impressive shine. It is holding up very well on the few cars I have used it on this month. It seems to me that this new carnuba Jet is almost a clone of OCW. I mean reading the product description makes it sound just like OCW.
 
Over a year ago spray waxes were rare....WAUD was one of the few spoken of but nothing was like OCW. Now I am told by friends that were at SEMA that everyone and their grandmother is coming out with some form of a spray wax :grinno:



There may even be a few that have crossed the line into patent infringment concerning Optimum's formula.....we'll have to see.



What this demonstrates is that these detailing forums have an enormous impact on the auto detailing products industry, as far as manufacturers are concerned. They watch these boards and when something is new and hot they all jump on the bandwagon hoping to get a piece of the pie. That's why America is so great :xyxthumbs

...and too close an imitation of OCW will result in David filing a lawsuit! :rules:

I got mine from Patrick at Exceldetail.com. I made a request that he order some for me and now I think he is carrying it in gallons. He gave me a good price.
 
I used OCW on my BMW today and I am totally impressed with the shine, slickness, and overall quality of the final finish.



I would not have believed a spray wax would do such a fine job.

a pretty good product that has been around a while is Protect All All Surface Care- a spray wax- wipe on wipe off and looks pretty good too
