What size waffleweave MF?

Hi guys and gals,



What size waffleweave MF towel seems to be the consensus favourite? 24x36 may be great for drying the car quickly without wringing but is this too big and unwieldly, flopping all over the place especially on the sides? And is 16x24 too small to dry without wringing? Maybe 16x36 is a happy medium?



Also, do you drag it across the car or simply lay it on and lift after letting it soak up the water?

I got MF Tech's 54" x 28" waffleweave. Yes, it's a bit large. But here's the deal: I have NEVER had to wring it. That puppy just keeps sucking up water til the whole car is dry!!

The more difficult handling issue, to which you allude, is how to keep it off the ground. Generally, I hold it up in my far hand so that the towel cannot reach the ground while I dry with my other hand. [Hmph! Did that make any sense??)

There's a temptation to rub with the towel. But so far, it seems to me that it works best when I just pull it ever-so-lightly along the car, instead of really scrubbing/buffing.

I'll be eager to hear from folks with more experience (and sense!) than I.

I got the waffle weave from Microfibertech and it is everything you could want in a towel and then some. Great quality I use that and a calf water blade and it works like a charm :xyxthumbs
 
I have the "Big Blue" waffle wave towel from CMA and love it. I think it is 36 X 36. I also went ahead and got the "Little Blue" as a package deal for smaller jobs and it's pretty handy as well. Not sure what size it is, between 16 and 24 I think.
 
I bought 54x28 waffleweaves from JT International, which looks like the ones shown on MicrofiberTech's site. For me, I think this size is perfect. It's big enough to cover half of the roof lengthwise or the whole width of the trunk lid on my cars. I also use it on the sides, just like Lynn described, or I'll fold it in into fourths to pat the sides dry.



One thing I will point out. If your budget allows, get at least 4 towels. I only bought 2 and I've had many occasions where I've washed my cars a second time before I've gotten around to washing the towels from the first use. It doesn't hurt to use the towels multiple times to dry your car with, since your drying a clean car. I just like to use any MF towel once and then wash it.



Lynn, just to let you know, your description of using the towel on the side made perfect sense to me. :xyxthumbs
