What sealant to use on my 10' GMC silver truck-flex or by hand?

I just finished detailing and polishing my silver GMC truck with Menzerna Intense polish and Final Finish. I want to seal it than wax it for the best look and protection (here in Colorado). I have a Flex DA and was wondering what Sealant and wax works best on silver and if I should use the Flex with those products or just by hand. Newer to detailing. Thanks
 
Otherway around 1KP topped with Poxy if you insist on a topper. Wouldn't want Poxy to limit 1000P



FK 1000P is unbelievably sharp looking on silver paint and literally one of the best dirt shedding, longest lasting LSPs out there. In our tests it even outlasted a couple "nano" crappers.
 
Thank for the advice. Never used those. Do I use my Flex or by hand?

To clarify, I thought I wanted sealant always before the wax. Your saying use FK1000 1st which is a wax then use the proxy which is a sealant on top of the wax?

FK1000p is more the sealant (100% synthetic) and Poxy a wax (polymer / wax blend)



So yes, 1000p first and top with Poxy if you so wish.

FK1000 is a sealant, its just in paste form. Poxy is a sealant-wax blend, but more sealant than wax.
 
Blackfire makes a nice sealant wax combination. You could give that a try...



I've used the Wet Diamond and for looks it's tough to beat. Respectable durability as well.



And as an added bonus you can create whiplash!!

you can apply fk1000p with the flex the biggest problem will be getting it on the pad. weather you do it by hand or machine be sure to apply it as thin as possible. don't get fk1000p on your trim (it has not been trim friendly for me).
 
So it sounds like the results are similar and it doesn't really matter if I use a DA vs hand to apply the FK1000 or the proxy?

The only sealant I have used so far was the Wolfgang sealant. Worked out real nice for me. Buffed it off lightly after 30 minutes curing. Real nice hard finish. Wolfgang products have been good to me. I know the menzerna line for Paint correction also.
 
I almost always use Opti-Seal on silver paint, as one customer put it while watching me apply it "looks like you are wiping on wetness". Apply by hand, thats it. No need to buff off, clears out on its own. Really nice when you have a large vehicle and you only have to go around it once.
 
Everybody will have a different opinion, but my personal silver cars are done with Zaino Z2. I like the pop they have and love the long lasting durability.
 
As noted, everybody has their faves.



Noting that I always have four or more silver vehicles, most of which have different LSPs, I vote for FK1000P. Simply amazing stuff. I've used it on trim with good results, but you gotta do it just right or you're in for a *REAL* headache, so...eh, "don't try this at home, kids!" :grinno:



I still haven't redone the hood or roof of the (Pewter metallic) Tahoe, and those surfaces got their last coat of FK1000P in January. This is the family beater that gets used hard every day. The FK1000P on the sides lasted over 8 months, and didn't really *need* redone when I refreshed it a few weeks ago. Yeah, it's parked inside, but it's sure not pampered. And yeah#2, the FK1000P looks great on it.
 
1000P goes really easy on a pad if you just scrape it out of the tin with a butter knife and butter it onto the pad. That approach works great for me on any sized pad.

If you are applying by a flex, just fold the pad and lightly swipe the corners. The flex and other DA machines enable such an even, well worked in coat of 1000P that the effort to get the applicator in is IMO worth it.



The other easier option is to mate a hand applicator to the tin of 1000P and just use that to wipe onto the foam pad on whatever DA you use. Makes life much easier and then you will already have an applicator for hand use in the tight spots.
