What QD should I be using in between AW applications?

Unfortunately Fast Clean & Shine isn't readily available here in aus. Looking for something I can also use as a spot QD to clean bird bombs when needed etc. I was looking at QuickShine but that is also hard to get a hold of locally.

Coming as you are from Australia, some of our American friends are not aware that quite a lot of products that are readily available in the US are not easily obtainable here in Australia.

To this end Meguiars does a pretty good trade, but other than visiting some of the Australian Independent Detailing sites and obtaining an Australian online importer of some of the products mentioned here, that's about all you might be able to obtain readily.

Consequently, you might try some of the Mothers products, and here you need to be able to effectively differentiate between Quick Detailers and Instant Detailers.

Mothers has an Instant Detailer called 'Showtime', and this is just for immediate touch ups. This is also perfect for removing those troublesome 'bird bombs'.

Spray the 'Showtime' on the droppings and then leave it soak for about a minute or so. Then, with your everyday Microfibre cloth, carefully remove the bird bomb, rolling it inwards on itself , collecting it in the MF cloth, and removing it that way. Then spray the Showtime again to clean the area completely, using the MF polishing cloth to bring the finish back to what it did look like. Doing it this way, and hopefully getting it early enough, this also is a good way to check and see if that bird bomb might have etched the clear coat, needing further work, but in the main, if you get it early enough, the Showtime will soften it enough for ease of removal.

Now, as opposed to Instant Detailers, a Quick Detailer is something to be used as a topper between full applications of a product every 8 to 12 weeks or so.

Mothers have 2 products of this sort, FX Spray Wax, and Reflections Spray Wax, and these are the toppers or Quick Detailers that actually apply a top up, whereas the Showtime does not add anything to the surface, just cleaning it.

Why I am specifically mentioning the Mothers products is that they are readily available over the counter from the big 4 car care outlets here in Australia, AutObarn, (no relation the US AutoBarn) Supercheap Auto, and the 2 smaller ones.

Most of these stores carry these products, and the joy of them, other than being readily available is that they go on easy and come off just as easily as well.

I hope that this helps somewhat.

Tony.

In actual fact the stuff that autogeek carry as well as menzerna 85RD, zaino, pakshak, clearkote and such are available in australia

Are you guys the makers of that lackfinish video. I saw that a month ago and have followed suit but I let it sit on the paint for two minutes before a flooding rinse

You can dilute lackfinish as well

I can't wait for the day when I can order it direct in two hundred and thousand litre containers.

All I need are the funds.

Ordering from overseas is great fun and really not that expensive

Anyway I'd rather buy the boutique stuff in gallons from all over the globe than use meguiars

There is some good information here thanks.

waxit.com.au is actually within driving distance from me, so I am able to widen my selection a little. (PB's S&G, Pinnacle etc...)

Some of Megs products are quite good...Megs #34 is a very good QD.

#34 is available locally here and sounds good, (clean, not wax heavy, that's what the AW is for).
