What product to use for touching up after detail...

I just finished detailing my red WRX yesterday... first time using AIO & EX. It came out really nice. So just my luck... it rained today. I ended up wiping the rain water spots with Meg. quik detailer.

What do you experts recommend for touch ups in-between washes? Thanks for the input.

Well there are tons of Qd's out there. As far as Qd's OTC, I use either Eagle One Wipe and Shine and NXT Speed Detailer. (Right now I like the NXT QD better than the EO) When I touch up vehichles with Zaino on them I exclusively use Z6 QD. I just ordered Pinnacle's Crystal Mist and will give that I try when I have Souve on my car. Make sure for your "touch-ups" there isnt too much dirt on the car and make sure to use a good quality MicroFiber towel. I usually use 2-3 mf for a qd touch up.

wow thanks for the quick replies.

I forgot to mention... after using the AIO I noticed that some paint showed up on the MF applicator. The car is only 4 months old and I heard that subarus have thin paint. So I guess this is normal and nothing to be worried about?

Also for my next detail should I just apply EX? and only re-apply AIO in 6 months or so?

Paint coming off that soon!?! Im assuming you mean you bought the car 4 months ago brand new. AIO is a strong cleaner but its not strong enough to make the clear coat come off. I dont know of any subarus that are still single stage?? Are you sure its paint or just grime?

By paint on your MF appilcator do you mean the pad turned red? If you have a single stage paint then that is normal, if you have a clear coat on top you the red that is not normal. I don't know if you have SS or CC paint. Some one will chime in with more knowledge on your paint and let us know which type of paint you have.

Yes, add EX when you detail next. AIO is a paint cleaner so it will strip any wax or sealants that you have on your car.

Yes the MF applicator had a little bit of pinkish color to it near the edge. I'm not sure if subaru uses single-stage or clearcoat paint. I'm trying to find out from the subaru forums...

All I know is that it's acrylic laquer paint. It's thin but just how thin I don't know.

WRXs have cheap paintjobs but they are b/c (at least all the recent-vintage Subies I've ever had/done were). No, no, that "cheap" comment is not a flame or anything :D I had one for a few years and got to know its paint pretty well. Heh heh, gotta remember that it's an Imprezza, not exactly a Bentley-quality vehicle, no matter how fast them make it go, that's why they're affordable, lightweight, and *so* good performance-wise. There are areas that aren't cleared, mostly out of the way spots like under the hood, in the jambs, etc. If you hit those you can get some paint transfer that might give you a  Any stone chips can cause the same thing. With red, it only takes a *little* pigment from the color coat to give you the pink pad thing.

If you were suffering clearcoat failure, you'd know it! The affected areas would look like crap.

I wouldn't do anything between washes unless I got a bird bomb. Subie clear isn't all that hard and I'd worry about marring it. It doesn't take long to wash a WRX, so I'd try to not touch the paint with *anything* except when doing a full wash/detail.

Heh, if he had clearcoat failure, it would look like my Legacy's hood right now. :) The stupid CC is coming off o the hoodscoop, and the apparently repainted pass fender and front bumper. Not sure if the hood was done(carfax told me it had an accident after I noticed the replaced fender). Either way, Subaru's don't have the greatest paint. But that's ok, I like the car plenty despite that. I can always get it painted a custom color. :D
