What polish to use before Klasse?

Hello,

I did search, but this yielded too much info and too many product names that I can't figure out: MP, UPP, #9, etc, etc

So my 2002 wrx has pretty decent paint. But, it did have some swirling. I've recently washed it, clayed it, used klasse all-in-one and then the sealant glaze. I applied Klasse with a bosch random orbital using the white, then grey pad. The surface is significantly better. BUT... I can still see(but not feel) some swirl marks - i'm guessing the deeper swirls.

What polish will work well before I use AIO and then the SG again? I'm worried I'll choose a polish that removes the swirls by actually filling them in; then the AIO would just remove this filler. Is this a possibility?

Any suggestions for a light polish would be great.

thanks,

Fatty

I like the poorboys stuff. I haven't tried it yet with Klasse but there is no fillers in poorboys.

Fatty Jones- On our WRX, I preceded the AIO with 3M's PI-III MG (pn 05937). Maybe sorta mild depending on what condition your car is in, but it works well before AIO. If any of the MG is hard to get off, don't worry, the AIO will clean it off just fine.

Might as well thrown in my 2 cents. We have an '04 WRX (white) and I use DACP before AIO/SG on it. Good luck with it, no matter which one you choose. They'll all do the job.

only use the Menzerna polishes with the rotary buffer.. at least thats what i was told... use the 1Z polishes if your doing it by hand or PC

little off topic but do the 1Z polishes have fillers? even so they should be removed by the AIO before SG right? i plan on getting a bundle that includes the 1Z line, and finished with AIO/SG.

I use DACP followed by Menzerna FP on a black car. On other colors, you may get away with skipping the FP if you use AIO with a polishing pad.

No, the 1Z products don't have any fillers. All they have is a minute amount of wax that will be removed with AIO, but you will be reapplying wax right after anyway so I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure to wipe down with ISA between products to get full potential. (Pre-AIO, of course)

What method do you all use for removing SG? It is very humid here and the more I work with SG the less I like it b/c of how hard it is to remove.

While everyone seems to be using the W-O-W-O method these days, *I* apply the SG, let it set up overnight, then buff it off the next morning with a suede-style MF. It comes off *VERY* easy for me this way, it even did when I experimented with rather thick applications.

Perhaps try fogging the surface with your breath while you buff it off.

Fatty Jones: regarding your original question - I've used GEPC before AIO/SG on a newer car & Menzerna IP before AIO/SG on an older car ... both by hand ... and got very satisfying results.
