As detailer, I love having a waterproof phone that has a glove mode. The iPhone just got old for me after being through 7 of them...

That was the case with me, till I updated an got the wifi error of death. Apple wouldn't warranty it, even though it's a known issue happening to thousands so I said good bye. Truth be told I have less problems running android lollipop with my Xperia's then I did with my new iPhones (old ones were awesome). I personally think apple quality has gone down, especially in there OS's. Although I do have an iMac and an iPad air, I do have an Xperia tablet which piggy backs as a 4k player for the Sony 4K Tv, all sync together. I'd probably still be with Apple if they didn't kick me to the curb an the sony wasn't so damn powerful.
 
Nothing is perfect. With apple I buy apple care and for me my phone is my life line. I spend 4 days a week on the road and if my phone isn't drop dead reliable I am in trouble. Besides following the detail forums I am a road warrior and the phone and email are like oxygen to me.

I have found the apple stores and the 800 number for apple care to be as good as the concierge desk at a 5 star hotel. I had a problematic phone when I ran the 5s and had it swapped out under apple care. From what I understand about apple products and updates is as follows. Apple pushes updates that older phones don't have the horsepower to run. They want you to have the new functionality. I don't accept an update until I verify it on mac rumors. It's a great forum for all things apple.

I hear good things about android from my friends. I know it's more customizable. For me I just need to be able to talk, surf the web, email on exchange and use the apps I choose to. I don't program asm have no interest in that at all.

I hate touch screen keyboard so i use the Blackberry Classic.
However the screen is admittedly too small it is hard to read this forum sometimes on this device.
Sony is good, more user friendly than most other competitors.

Funny, for me it was the opposite. Like Ppld said, Sony is more user friendly. I'm the same way honestly, I don't program an have no need for customization. Imo, the Sony is like the iPhone of the android world, super clean os, almost zero bloat wear but the massive power of the snapdragon. It's the only phone I considered going to from the iPhone. I didn't want customizability, I wanted a stable platform that has massive power, battery life, insane camera, waterproofing and most of all MHL support. Personally it's was the only android phone out at the time that had a real premium feel besides the HTC one M7. Now a days between the Note 4, Oppo find 7 an all these others android is really stepping up.

Android is slowly becoming more like IOS, just a bite more open source.
 
Iphone5 and have had it for years. Never had to reset it even once. It just always works and a ton of apps.
I just got a Roku 3. The remote works very well but there's also a free Iphone5 app for it too.
Eventually I'll upgrade to an Iphone6 or maybe a Samsung S6. My tablet is android based and i like it.
 
Long time android user, just got my first iPhone. A 5s. Honestly I don't see all the hype. I had a zte zmax and a lg g2 most recently. Both had substantially better battery life and I ever had issues at all requiring a restart or things like that. I just got the iPhone for the fact that all my music (gotta have my music) is on iTunes and I love my iPod. So why not combine em and just have the phone right?

all in all I feel like android phones are a much better value for me and my needs. Probably won't buy another iPhone after this one.

also worth mentioning, my wife got an iPhone once. A 4s. Her data usage went from about 400-500mb each month up to 2-3gb every month after switching from an android device. It was doing random things in the background sometimes using 500mb of data randomly in the middle of the night. Even after going through settings and turning everything off and making sure things were set to wifi only, it kept doing it. Verizon wouldn't help and just said she's just using it more when she wasn't using it anymore than her old phone. We got huge data overage charges that they refunded once but it just happened again the next month. Said goodbye to Verizon on that note and switched to T-Mobile. Still have a bit of a sour taste in my mouth about that ordeal. Never had an issue like that with an android device.
 
I currently use a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, as my personal phone (with a fly grip on the back so I can use the phone one-handed). I also use a very old Sony Ericson K750i phone for work because the battery lasts me about a week without charging (no GPS, no Internet, no BS, just a real phone). The K750i has accidently been thrown out the window of my car at 50+ mph and didn't even drop the call, I definitely wouldn't try that with a note 4.

My wife has the Samsung Galaxy S5 and its waterproof (~10 feet) and it's the phone I bring with me when detailing (along with the trusty K750i).

Galaxy Note 4 crew checking in. Simply put, its the best device ever made. I kind of laugh at people who still ride the iphone train. that device has been at least 12 months behind in technology for the past 5 designs. I was in line in 2007 the day the original iphone came out. kept it a year and got the second. after that year I decided to go with the original Galaxy S and I never looked back. had the S2 and the S4, then last winter I got the Note 4 right after its release. I actually, for the first time ever, had trouble with dropped calls on my first Note 4. took it back to the store and got a fresh one right out of the box. on that one, no more dropped calls, but the camera took 10 seconds to focus, every single time. so, AT&T wouldn't let me open another new one so they sent me one in the mail and guess what? I'll be darned if it didn't drop the very first call I made. I was having a bad day already, so I got mad and called AT&T again. crazy thing happened...they completely refunded my phone. no joke. they refunded me $645 for the price I had paid, and showed me how to reset the device and it has never dropped another call since. so I essentially have a brand new phone that works perfect and could turn around and sell it on eBay or something and make about $400-500 if I wanted. the manager of the AT&T store just about died when he saw that the phone rep had actually done that. he said in 20 years he had never seen that done. I'm pretty excited about it. think I will keep it until October when the Note 5 should come out.
