I find that applying a high quality finishing wax by hand to be very therapeutic for myself. Although that also entails trying new products. I couldn't imagine only having a couple of LSP's to choose from. I like acquiring new products and testing them against other tried and true choices. Of course I also long for the "results"! There is not much more satisfying than gazing at a beautiful piece of automobile that you shined up! I guess I could vote on either one of the poll choices at one time or another. Hooray detailing!!

Getting paid of course !But a nice tip is even better!:bigups

I really really love how happy and excited a customer is with their car when Im done. When I can make a customer extreemly happy and they tell me their car looks awesome and I am awesome its like a high for me .This is true job satisfaction and makes it all worth it.:rockon

Money in hand, all the detail crap is finally put away, and just sitting down with an adult beverage after a cool/cold shower. Now THAT'S satisfaction!

Waking my uncle up with 150 psi of compressed air. He shouldn't be napping at work anyway. Also buffing one handed so I can give him the bird when he says "you missed a spot" or an equally asinine statement.

Cant get much better looking at the results and feeling the paint after a good polishing. I think it looks pretty cool seeing the paint in its bare form shining so nice. Freshly polished and corrected paint just feels awesome. Some people like to pick their nose, for me I like to feel flawless car paint:yay

I put "washing" for a couple of reasons. First, it's what I do most of the time so you learn to love (or hate) what you do most often. As much as I like correcting paint, it is something I am glad I don't have to do on a regular basis, mostly because of everything that it involves. Not only to I have to wash the car, but also decontaminate, polish, and re-coat or re-wax. It is just a tedious process that I love, just not all the time.

Secondly, and it has been mentioned above, but I get to put my headphones on and just zone out and listen to my music or the radio and go into my world. It's the most relaxing part of the day, even if it is hard work on occasion and aggravating when you miss a spot on the wheels.

A close second was applying a wax, just because that is what I did when I first got a car. I didn't know about the dangers of the car wash so I would run it through the tunnel and then go home and put a fresh coat of wax on the paint. I had a big, huge SUV (Range Rover) so you can imagine any chance I had to not wash the car by hand I took! Nowadays I'm playing with coatings so waxing is not a monthly or bi-weekly thing, but washing sure is! And thus why I had to choose it!

I only do this as a hobby for my car and my car alone. I voted the end result. The reason for that is I own a black car (need I really say any more) and everything that comes before that pretty much bites the big one. But I do get satisfaction when I am done and it looks nice it is just tedious getting it there.

Dear Dean

I just watched your video. Your car sounds awesome!

I want my investment clean and protected. But maybe equally important is imposing order on some portion of my life. I'm a proud father of a hyperactive 5.75-year-old boy. Life is chaotic, but my van is clean, sometimes almost perfectly clean.

Thanks! The video doesn't do it justice at all. I couldn't justify spending money on the SS with the V8 and for a V6 it sounds pretty mean. Sounds 10 times better in person. Someday I will be getting back into something with some muscle.

Thanks again,
Dean. :bigups
