what makes you enjoy detailing

The shine makes my truck stand out like a diamond in a goat's as* and this causes women, YOUNG women to stop and turn their heads to look. I'm so old that I've forgotten why that's a good thing but I know I like it. :)  :rofl

I agree with eggroll, it is like a kind of therapy. You can just get into the detailing and focus on the job and nothing else matters for a few hours. And when you're done, you have a great finished product to admire, or a very happy customer. Every vehicle is a different challenge, with the same great feeling when you're done. So I guess it's the pride of a good job that keeps me going at it. Plus it's cheaper than a shrink...lol

I detail because it's like therapy for me. You can tell when I'm stressed out because my car will be super clean and shiny. I don't think of much else except the process, and trying to make it look right. Some people clean...I detail

It's like therapy for me too.

Whenever I get stressed out I always try to spend time cleaning, polishing and waxing my 69' Corvette Stingray. Hey, one time I spent two hours just cleaning and polishing the chrome insert housing that supports the rear license plate. Felt a lot better when I got done.

For me, it's relaxation therapy and, thanks to everything I've learned from all of you at Autopia, the chance to make my beater draw stares that clearly say "wow, that van looks great!".

in order to be successful, one must prjoect of succesfullness. Its calming to stay detailin my car and then have all my friends/ girls tell me how great it looks and what a nice smell it has on the inside.

I was wonderin not to hi jack this thread, but has anyone used an air ionizer in the cigarette lighter? does it make a difference?

I think it's a sickness, really. :D

I mean, yesterday I was putting a new headlight in my (new to me) 1990 325i. I had to remove the front grille work to access the headlight bucket. When I got the old light out, I noticed some rust on the bucket.:nono Well, I grabbed some sandpaper and some rust inhibitor and away I went. Then I figured as long as I have the grilles off I might as well degrease the back, clean the front, spray some 303 on it, polish the chrome bits....you see, I was just changing a darn headlight and it ended up taking me 2 hours...and most of what I cleaned isn't even visible once the car is all put back together!! You see, sickness...at least that's what my wife says. :) I'd never make it as a mechanic, I couldn't stand fixing a dirty car and leaving it that way!
