what kind of towel to use for using pre-wax cleaners

I'm trying to figure out what kind of towel I need to use pre-wax cleaning products. It seems like a regular wax applicator won't do since you are polishing off a lot of oxidation and you'll want a new section all the time to prevent scratching. I've also not heard of anyone using MF towels for polishing. So will just some 100% cotton terry cloth do for this purpose? Is the more knap the better or are those "diaper" type polishing cloths better for this?

Now about glazes, do those just apply like wax? Foam applicator with a light coating? I don't know if glazes need to be massaged and really rubbed like the polish, or if a nice light coating is sufficient.

Thanks!

I apply both products with a small round closed cell foam applicator, and remove both with MF.

Glazes are applied like wax. I prefer to do a thin coat in a back and forth motion, and remove while still damp.

My only complaint with the MF and terry cloth applicators is they absorb too much product, wasting it.

Foam gives you better control so you don't over-apply it, and you can fold them in half to get a sharp edge so you can do next to trim without slopping it on the trim.

I thought polish/cleaners had to be worked in, not just rubbed on lightly. Otherwise how does it actually polish?

That's right, they should be worked in, but you could use foam for that too. Terry cloth would work though if you prefer. Glaze doesn't have to be worked in AFAIK, but some people advocate this.
