Hi, can someone give me a short list of what i need to remove swirl marks, light scratches, and imperfections on paint??? I have a black car and it has a lot of very light scratches. Is a PC a must??? if so, what kind and where can i buy one??? Can someone also let me know what kinda pads and polishes should i use??? Thanks.

Really it all depends on what light is. Most "light" swirls and marring can be removed by hand with the proper products but a PC will definetely make it easier / faster. A PC with a few of the meguiars foam pads can be an invaluable tool. As for products I personally like Poorboy's SSR1,2,3 and ProPolish, all are easy on / off and give great results. Hope this helps

Welcome to Autopia

As you will see it’s a ‘very user friendly’ place, the people on this forum are very knowledgeable, and one thing that seems to stand out here compared to other special interest forums is a spirit of "open mindedness.

A PC is not essential tool (see ‘Scottwax’ detailing pics) but mostly for the rest of us once tried it is.

Suggest you start at David’s guide (Learn icon – Car Care Topics) and/or (Forum – University) you could also research FAQ (go to Interact-Features-FAQ) or Interact (Search) and then ask your questions on (Forums - University) there are also tips on products under Shop (How-To). The Autopia “Guide to detailing eBook covers most facets of detailing; every car-detailing enthusiast should own this book. If the Autopia forum solves just one of your detailing problems it’s worth the price of admission
