What kind of non-monetary perks do you get from customers?

I know we all get tips (especially from regulars), but what other ways have customers expressed their appreciation for your hard work?

My sons and I will be attending our second free baseball game in 2 weeks next Wednesday, courtesy of two different customers. Real good seats, too. We will be sitting in section 38, row 6 at the Ballpark in Arlington, which is a little past the infield on the first base side in the lower bowl of the stadium. :up

I regularly get tickets from one of my customers since he is a local sports talk/columnist who simply calls his contacts with the Rangers and gets me tickets. I also detail for the head of Ranger's Player Development who has told me any time I need tickets to give him a call...which one of these days, I will.

I've also been to Stars and Cowboy's games courtesy of my customers. One lady baked me some cookies while I was detailing her car!

One thing for sure, it feels pretty good to be so appreciated.

My customer last week gave me a pair of REVO sunglasses. then he helped me land the deal with the country club, and now he is helping me in general with my business. Nicest guy i have ever met.

Detailing my godmother's boss's cars. I get to chill afterwards and have a BBq (burgers, hot dogs, and I love their fresh baked brownies and cake.)

My motto, will work for food :)

This may sound boring compared to ball game tickets, but one lady called me the next day after detailing her car and asked me what my favorite resaraunt was. She told me to come by and see her at work (she is manager of a club). She gave me a thank you card and a gift certificate for my favorite italian restaraunt. Hey, that reminds me, I haven't used it yet.

Guess where I am going this wekend.:bounce

Yes, it sure is nice to know your work is appreciated.

A neighbor of mine gave me a case of Amstel Light as a thank you just for giving him advice on what to use on his new car!

Last week I got a case of Alexander Keiths from an Exec. at Labatts, I get free t-shirts, sunglasses, a satellite dish, dvds etc... mostly from the other samll business owners in my area.

The most common tip I get is a Ride. It's also the most fun usually. A lot of the guys I do are from the local import club... i guess when they see all the money i've spent on detailing products and see how stock my car is they feel bad for me and decide I need a little trip around the town with some performance to put my head on straight.

Some of them are really really nice. The low 12 second (at 5480 feet altitude) WRX with a full STI suspension package was fun. I also really liked the trip in the NSX. It rained the night before I did that one... man can that car dodge puddles.... even at 60+ mph..... The NSX guy asked me if i wanted to drive it...all my friends think i'm nuts for declying but I was still in shock from just having it in my garage. I'm glad I made that decision though... I definatly wouldn't of driven it like he did.

yeah the best part of my business is that I'm constantly going to pick a car up and drive it to my garage... thus far I've done a couple 'vettes (one a 50th AE) and one porsche (boxster) so those were fun to drive :up

those were the notables anyways... I don't count SUVs and minivans as fun to drive  or detail

The only perk I've ever received is getting to photgraph their car and sometimes driving it for short distances. That is always a perk when you get a higher end car. :D I've gotten the occasional discount somewhere or maybe a good tip that payed off, but that's about it. Maybe after doing this for another 10 years I'll have some better stories.

I've received the homemade chocolate chip cookies, discounts at various businesses, etc.

A friend of mine drives a Peterbilt with an oversized flatbed trailer. He was coming to visit me here in the mountains and needed a place to drop the trailer. I called up one of my customers who has a business with a large parking lot. He had no problem allowing my friend to leave the trailer in his parking lot for a few days.

Recently I detailed 2 vehicles at a the customers' home. They have a small pond loaded with large goldfish. I had just finished building a small pond in my backyard out of an old large satellite dish. When I told them this, they invited me and my family to visit them. My kids had a blast catching several of the fish with a net which they let us take home to stock our pond with... The fish are adjusting well to their new habitat.

Onthespot

Hey on the spot! Glad to see you here. I get dinner certificates, discounts on tires and service work, trade out services with lawn service, exterminators, etc.

well i just got one of the best tips ever... the face of a very happy customer. It was a 94 3000 GT vr 4. Black and swirled really really bad. I went over it with 1z UPP then AIO and most the swirls were gone... at that point he said "WOW... i am shocked... this is definatly worth my money." When I explained to him that was only abrasives and i've yet to put on the 'shiny' stuff his jaw dropped. He's driving home right now and I bet there is a smile on his face the whole way back. Nothing beats that. I can't wait to get the before/after pictures from him. I"ll be sure and post them here.

i recieve cookies for every football game i win at school. Last year we were 8 and 1 :-)

for detailing the second best was when a customer called me and told me my work was the best ever. She went on for about 5 minuites. It was the day after i detailed her truck. It was very nicec.

The best ever was a customer (and friend) went out of town for a week. He deecided he didn't want to leave his vehicle in "secure" parking, or public parking, so he left it with me. It was sooo nice to have a lightning for a week. I would sit at red lights, and people would just sit and stare in awe at the truck. At times i rolled up the windows, becasue they would be pointing and stuff.

I detailed a car for a girl I knew who turned out to be a lesbian stripper. She and her "special friends" couldn't afford to pay me afterwards, so all seven decided to pay me in their own special way.

It was a real tight fit getting all eight of us in a bath tub.

just kidding...
