What is your goof proof pad/machine/polish combo for soft paint?

I had serious issues fighting the clear on a Black Trailblazer SS, and the Ultrafina with 3M Blue PerfectIt pad was really the only thing that worked as well as I wanted.

If I am finishing with a PC for any reason I usually stick with a Megs white finishing pad and #82.

Is everyone using a 7" rotary backing plate for the 3m blue pad?

Also, where is everyone buying the polish?

No I use a standard 5.5" or whatever size my BPs are and it works fine with the 8"pad.

I am now hearing the Europe verion of the Ultrafina is different than the US version. I guess theirs is way better. It's hard to believe, but 3M in Europe says the formula is different.

Look like I have to import some over and see for myself. I am also picking up some 80349 that I have been hearing superb things about. Paul Dalton swears by it.

My bottle of Ultrafina arrived today. :)

Have you ordered the Ultrafina pads? They are worh the money :bigups

Enjoy the Ultrafina. Use just a bit of product, spread at low speed then speed up the machine at ~1800 rpm and work the polish, and when it becomes clear, then reduce the speed to ~1000 rpm, do a couple of passes and stop.

rydawg - I would really appreciate it if you can take some photos showing how much product (Ultrafina) you used for the first buff and how much you use subsequently. Still playing around with this polish to achieve the best result ;) .

I can do that. There is also a video from 3M that I posted here too. It explains it in depth and shows the whole process.

Are you using a rotary for this?
