Anybody ever use this? I ran across this wax at EBay #595634666. It sounds pretty good. Also you can see it at WWW.toughguard.com It sells on their website for $97.00 though. Thats the bad part. Hard to believe it can protect a new paint job for five years. That would take all the fun out if you just wax once in five years.
 
Never heard of it. Then again, I had never heard of Klasse or Zaino until about two months ago. Toughguard sounds like it is in the same family, in that it is a polymer. It claims to be an acrylic, while we know Zaino isn't and most likely Klasse isn't. It would be interesting to see a car done with it for several years with no other work done except a wash now and then. Five years is a long time for junk to stick to the surface of the car. Stuff that usually has to be clayed off.



I think it would be OK if your goal was "seal it and forget it." If you wanted your car to look it's best and were willing to put in some work, then you could try something more widely used in these circles (tried and true, so to speak - by people with no axe to grind.)

Check out the directions below. Sounds like an adventure. Sounds as bad as the old Blue Coral Touchless acrylic. But the letters to the company make it sound like Zaino and Klasse have something to seriously compete with. I think the colorful labels will make most people think this is not a serious product.

8) What is the application procedure?

Remember, that the thinner that you apply TOUGHGUARD the better it will perform. If applied properly, you will have enough product to do your car at least twice. Here are 3 very effective ways to apply TOUGHGUARD.

#1) Manual Application

Needed before starting

Shaded area
One TOUGHGUARD kit
small bucket of hot water
clean terry towels
sponge applicator (high quality body shop sponge)

A. Dissolve entire contents of polarizing crystals in approx one gallon of hot water.
B. Rinse vehicle with water, wash if needed before to be clean and free from dirt.
C. Apply polarizing crystal solution liberally to entire exterior of vehicle.
D. Allow polarizing crystal solution to dry to a light haze (About 10 minutes)
E. Rinse vehicle completely with water.
F. Wipe on TOUGHGUARD sparingly in a circular motion using a small sponge applicator to all the painted surfaces of the vehicle.
G. Wipe off vehicle with a clean terry towel.
H. Wipe on a second coat of TOUGHGUARD using your sponge applicator.
I. Wipe off vehicle with a terry towel to a maximum gloss. You're done!

(application time 1 to 1.5 hours)
 
I talked about it about a month ago in the YoSteve web chat forum...up to five years without reapplying?

I doubt it will have the shine like Zaino or Klasse...but you can try if you want :)
 
I tend to try to buy all my products from one seller if we're talking about mail order. I hate paying shipping and I can minimize it by buying from one place.
 
I'm in the "something else" category. Actually it's a mixture of all the categories represented.

I definitely love to shop with, buy from PAC, though... excellent products, GREAT service (they field my dumb questions on the phone almost... well, elegantly:) ), great prices, they take Paypal, fast shipping. PAC's the whole package.:thumbup::thumbup:

Just bought a Hitachi buffer last night from PAC... can't wait to take it for a spin. 5 year warranty... ya gotta love that!:clap:

I compare product claims first, then separate the hype and false advertising using critical thinking, then buy the product that best suits my needs and expectations.

Almost always, a higher quality product that performs as claimed will cost a few dollars more. Those few dollars will save you the regret of tossing it or returning it.

I know they are hard to find, but I make an effort to purchase tools made in USA. I can buy the Chinese brands at a much lower cost at Big Lots and other Closeout stores, than the online suppliers.

I found 3M Performance Finish (16 oz) at Big Lots for $1.99 each. Carrand tire brushes for $1.50; Smart Park for $3.99, and there are many other items similar. What's my point? Buy those locally for cheap and then spend your real money on quality sealants, wax, and dressings.
 
I'm with the "I hate paying for shipping" guys! So I'm always looking for the free shipping deals. Since we get 10% off at PAC, I make my list and wait for the free ship sale.:clap:

Something Else for me.

I am not loyal to one brand (okay, BFWD is the only sealant that I will ever use), so I try to find the right mix of products that work for me within a realistic price point. I would like to purchase everything from PAC, but there are times when I can't do the shipping, and if it's a product I can find locally, I will try to do just that.

anytime a make a large purchase i first will read and read and research as much as possibe before i make a final decision. as far as car products i always go to PAC first and then i they don't have wha i'm looking for i will revert to read and research. i'm of the school of buy cheap, buy twice so i'll usually pay a lil more for quality.
 
I have been buying from PAC since they used to throw in a few packs of Snappy Clean for free, and I miss those days.

While I was just detailing casually, etc., and didnt really worry much about the 7-8 working days it takes their products to get here, it was fine.
But now that I've opened up a business this year past, I cant wait all the time for that long, and no, paying twice the amount for shipping ($20) to speed up shipping is not acceptable for me.

So I have come to the conclusion that PAC is a great place for alot of things, but it mostly caters to the Midwest-Eastern areas of the country, and that is ok too.

Or perhaps I am the only customer from the West Coast?? I dont see anyone else posting from this side, so that must be the answer.. Too bad for me, eh?

Over here on the W/Coast I have found a few places that are pretty good too, and shipping is alot less and way faster, so I am using other places as well now.

I like to also buy at best pricing, and look for those prices whenever possible.
I also try to save up and get quality equipment/products the first time and even though its a stretch, in the long run for me, its worth it.

I am not brand loyal as much as I am product loyal. I like Zaino Z5 and Z2 for it's ease of use, durability, and I can get it locally, but it isn't my exclusive brand. There are also some 'cheap' products from the discount or outlet stores that I really like. I'll try just about everything and anything, especially if it is cheap to try.

There was a clearance at a car show that had pretty much everything for $1. Detail sprays, tire cleaners, and even gallons of car wash. For $1 I tried several of the products and found some are lame, while others are well worth the money.

Shipping is also a factor and I try to keep enough stuff on hand so I never have to pay for one or two things and also have time to 'shop' for a decent deal.
