What is everyone charging for a basic detail?

If I do a one step polish, my rates start at 220 for a car. It goes up to 250 for a truck. That includes a very basic interior detail.

I don't use a cleaner wax but rather a single step polish. To do all of that would start at $250.

Im about 240 for a onestep with wax and full interior.

I also charge $240 for a basic on the average size car. I charge more for trucks, SUVs and WWII bombers. :2thumbs:

i usually start at $225 for small cars but do not include any machine work. wash, clay, wax, complete interior and everything dressed. if the vehicle is in bad shape price goes up. unless i get a group buy, then i give a decent price break but it has to be more than 4 cars.



this is what happens when you go to a local car wash or have a body shop do it around here. this is the car i was working on today, my customer actually paid for this!!!

Huh, I find the pricing interesting. Just never had a clue what such stuff costs when done by good people.



FWIW, the local carwash's "hand wash/wax inside/out details" are about $75 IIRC (that's off their sign), and I shudder to think about the kind of work they do.

I bet they have a team of two guys that get that done in less than an hour; quicker if they are running the car through the tunnel rather than hand washing. Not bad money if they are doing some volume.

Yeah, that's what I figure, and with the tunnel being part of the business I sure doubt they're doing any handwashing. This wash is near an upscale neighborhood, and Autopians would just die about the kinds of vehicles that're getting the ol' scratch & swirl treatment.



That said, it's a well-established business that's seen a lot of competition come and go. They also sell gas, and I guess that what they do is no worse than the carwashes attached to the BP/etc. stores on the other corners of that intersection. At least this place is offering a stable career for its employees; they make a big deal about how their scratch & swirlers have worked there for decades.

Around $300 for a one step, no interior, and I spend a day on the car. I dont do it for a living though.

Local CL adds say full details $60 so forget my local market. I charge $150 on avg for a wash, clay, aio, wheels cleaned, tires and wells cleaned and shined, windows cleaned, interior vacuum and wiped down

$160-$220 depending on vehicle size. The only thing I charge extra for is dog hair, and then donate 50% of that amount to the Humane Society.



Full interior including leather conditioner and fabric protection. Exterior wash, clay, wax or sealant. Takes me about three hours for a small or standard size car and up to four hours on a large SUV- give or take 30 minutes on occasion.



I've had a good response separating protection from perfection- most customers wont appreciate the difference between a clean car and a one step car. I upsell a one step when it will make a huge difference or the customer requests it, otherwise I don't take the polishers out for anything less than a correction appointment.

i start at 150 for a normal sized car, that gets you a hand wash the wheels tires and fenders cleaned and dressed, and waxed of course. than a full interior shampoo extraction everything. the interior is where most of my time gets spend but over all i can do at that in about 3 to 5 hours depending on the condition of the interior.



around my parts tyring to get a one step added on or a polish just dont work out well, most people dont know the diffrance between a polish and wax. so for me my pricing works out well and i dont have to worry about polshing. i would like to get more polishing jobs to do so i can generate more money. but most of my clinets are one time people who just trash there car and need a good clean.

For the most part, I charge $325 for a wash, extensive cleaning of all wheels, tires and wheel wells, claybar treatment, degrease paint, clean all jambs, single stage polish, alcohol wipedown, sealant, dress tires and clean windows. When I say a "single stage polish", I spend quite a bit of time working the product, not just a quick once over.



Depending on the job, I will usually clean the interior windows, give the dash a quick wipedown and give it a quick vacuum so the customer feels like they got a little extra...
