What Interior Cleaning Supplies Do I Really Need?

Good point White95. I have been seriously considering buying a Little Green Clean Machine, but wet seats would be a bummer. The results with those are so nice though! When you clean by hand what is your method, and how much solution do you lay down? Spray bottle I'm guessing?

Yeah wet seats would be a problem. What if you were to work on those first and try to let them sit in the sun to dry? Have you tried that? For myself, since I will be starting out with family and friends, I will just tell them that I'll need their car for a whole day and a half, give or take, for their interior to dry. I'm assuming most will understand or I will just simply skip their seats. :nixweiss

Yes I use a spray bottle with Meg's APC and warm water. I spray a section of the seat, and scrub with an Autopia Store upholstery brush. Then I wipe it with a wet MF, and finally dry it with another MF. For isolated spots, I use either Autoglym Interior Shampoo or Detailer's Pride Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner.

For floor mats I use the LGCM or vacuum, because people aren't too concerned about damp floor mats. They just don't want to have a wet a$$ for the ride home. :down

I can't count on the sun to be out everytime I do a detail. If it's cloudy and cool, the seats would take a long time to dry.

And I always work on the interior first to make sure everything is dry in time. That way I can get the floor mats done, and out in the sun (if applicable) so they can dry as much as possible.

Totally understandable... but don't they want clean seats??? LoL... well it's totally up to the customer but I would give up my car for a day and half just to have my seats thoroughly cleaned. You get what you pay for.

Your process makes sense. Hand cleaning is probably better, and all that is necessary on actual seating surfaces anyway. Now how about floor carpeting. Do you just LGCM the mats and all of the floor boards? Bissell solution? I feel my next detailing purchase coming on...

all the floor mats and carpet I use either the LGCM, or the same process as the seats with the exception of a wet/dry vac to get the water out.

I use Meg's APC in the LGCM. It's very important to add a bit of defoamer in the tank too. I use generic fabric softener.
