What happens when car is left dirty?

I was wondering what happens to your paint when the car is left dirty for a couple of days. By dirty I mean: semi-dusty car got rained on and now you have dusty water spots all over the car. Leaving the car like this for a few days can be bad right? The paint is slowly destroyed also correct? Thanks.

Your car starts a deep hatred of you that can become worse over time. Your car hates to be dirty, so it decides to not start for you one morning. Or, it stalls when you are riding around that hotttt new date. Or it figures out when you are the most broke, and decides to throw a rod. ;) :D

LOL, from what i am aware of, as long as you have a good coat of wax on there it should be fine. There is a difference between a car being dirty for a little while and a car being neglected. As long as you are not neglecting it, you should be fine.

Welcome to Autopia.

Well, IF there's no wax on it then it's sure not great for the paint. Not really like it's getting "destroyed", well, maybe incrementally, but usually not a big deal.

But the dirt does hold moisture, which isn't good, especially in acid-rain areas. And if any of the "dirt" is especially nasty (acidic, caustic, etc.), prolonged contact COULD cause problems (think bird bombs and bug guts).

With a LOT of protection on the finish (like many layers of SG and/or lots of Collinite/Megs #16), I find I CAN get away with less-than-frequent cleanups without problems. Not recommending it though...
