What gadget do you find most useful in your garage?

I've just bought a laser pointer for parking my Mercedes to get the roof accurately back on. I'm going to attach it to the garage ceiling so that it points on a defined spot on my car when it is positioned ready for the roof to be winched off. When I want to to put the roof back on, I can use it to get the car positioned exactly.



It got me thinking about the many gadgets like this we can use in our garages. I'd be interested to know what other ideas people have found useful in their garages.





My top of the poll item is the motion sensor wall switch that turns on my internal garage lights. Can't count the number of times this has been a boon when I'm going in or out with both hands full.



The other is the cat door for the garage interior door that leads into our kitchen. Our Birman is a real traveler, and several times an hour through this door is not uncommon. Imagine not having it!



So what gadget do you like best in your garage?

One thing I would like - but can't get here in my country - is a ceiling-mounted, hand held florescent inspection tube with the cord on a reel.



I bought an ordinary corded one, and the winding up is driving me to distraction.

I am not sure if a Birman is a car or a dog but there is not any cat that has walked in my garage that walked out!



PS cool idea about the laser pointer for the roof removal ;)

The first thing that I have added to my garages when I have moved is a motion sensor light switch. My wife was always turning on the garage lights and forgetting to turn them off. As a result, I was always replacing light bulbs when they lasted only a month or two.



The second item is a light on a reel hung from the center of the garage ceiling. I now always have a light (with additional outlet for power tools) where I need it without having to drag out extension cords, etc.
 
These are the things I want to have in my garage. I think these are pretty useful.



How about an air compressor from Sears, a vacuum like vac n blo mounted on the wall, a work bench for laptop and shop work, a deep sink with hot and cold water (even with a water softener filtration device), a ceiling fan, a professional tool box, hanging cabinets for detailing stuff, AC Hydraulic floor jacks and stands, painted garage floor, a sound system, light sensors, self closing door from garage to inside of the house, oil spill mats, one-man brake bleeder, used oil (those with resealable caps) and coolant (open type)containers, high pressure water, extractor, and tons of space just for myself.
 
Hey Jim, I like the beer fridge idea:xyxthumbs . I put up lots and lots of light fixtures. Painted the floor white. It looks like a lab. People go blind in there.:shocked Also a hose bib. I'll work on heating next.

the most useful thing in my garage... the garage door opener, the buttons and remotes, and finally the light on it. When I walk through the eyes, the lights turn on on the opener... what a convience.
