what does your significant other think about your obsession with detailing?

My wife like doing the inside also. She really liked that when we first started dating my Eclipse was always spotless and shiny. She only really complains when I play on my computer all weekend long. What can I say, I'm a junky for Counter-Strike and RTCW:ET.

Mine doesn't really get it, she's one of those "point A to point B" people when it comes to cars. On the other hand, she's pretty good about letting me do what I want, and I only had to tell her *once* not to set anything on the paint when getting into my car.

She gets annoyed! And she gets mad at all the money I spend on detail products. I can't wait to see the look on her face in the spring when I have a new detail shop running out of our new house. Oh well, I am sure she will be happy when the money rolls in though.
CWCAD: Mine is the same way. As long as I keep zaino on her car she is happy also. I hope they know how lucky they are if only they knew. Normally, she use to refer to everything as "WAX"! It drove me nuts and I use to yell at her and explain to her. She told me she could care less and said they all do the same.
In the beginning she thought I was stupid for wanting to detail cars and especially for the higher prices I charged. She said," The people down the road only charge $99 and you are going to charge double, and it'sonly going to wash off in a couple of weeks".
Till I detailed her Jeep and after a month I said," When is all that gloss going to wash off"?
She then said......"ummmm nothing and then just smiled"! Now after 8 months and it is still looking amazing with only a couple of washes, she said,"maybe you should charge a little more"! I never knew there was a difference in that. I thought it was all just buff and wax.
She now tells people that it's all the paint prep work that makes a car look good! Now she is telling people that wax stinks and zaino rules.! OH BOY....look what I created! I told her do not say that on autopia. OH BOY!
She now drives by detail shops and see's signs saying $99 and says,' What a ripp-off. $99 to mess up your car! If you wanna do that just take it too a $10 car wash. It's only $10 and you don't have to wait, no appointment, car looks ok, it's still waxed if that's your sorta thing, and it less scratches then the $99 detail without the polish and wax in every jamb and crack.

she likes it the car is always clean and she knows that the money is well spent. I enjoy doing it so in her opinion that is what is important

Mine loves the looks of a freshly cleaned car, but hates the amount of money I have spent in the last 4 months. I tell her: If you want your car looking good, you need to spend on good stuff! After that, she's ok... But still grumbles about the money issue..:faint:
