what do you use to clean wheel wells?

I buy non-acidic cleaners. Great for soft metals. Nothing works better. I buy 1 gallon jugs @ HomeDepot..

They sell brushes even @ Kmart for washing wheels. I bought 2 of them and they work great. Make sure you soak them after using them.
 
For regular cleaning of the wheel wells I use car wash soap and soft brushes. I turn the front wheels as far as they will go in both directions so I can get the entire wheel well clean without removing the wheels. Then I dress them with Stoners Trim Shine. I like the TS becuase it's spray and walk away, no need for an applicator or buffing. It sprays on evenly and drys hard.





If the wells need a major cleaning I remove the wheels and use Orange Blast by Greased Lightning and soft brushes to clean and then dress with Trim Shine. Ater this it's easy to maintain just doing my regular cleaning.
 
I like to use diluted APC, couple of brushes and a chennel wash mitt. Let it dry and spray tire foam to lightly coat the WW's. I find that the inital clean up is the hardest, once they are clean I use car wash soap instead of the APC.

I use the little BHBs from Griot's (pn 15520). But I probably do most of the cleaning with the Quickee Sponge Mop.
 
In terms of dressing totally clean wheel wells, I'll probably eventually try the clear Trim-A-Shield. TOL sells it. If it works well on wheel wells, it sounds exactly like the ideal product I'd want for them.

Accumulator, I'd read before about your "Quickee Sponge Mop." I'll see what I can try to find.

I do the exact same thing. A2Z is brilliant for this task, especially for very dirty wheel wells (nearly all the ones I do).
 
I wash the wheel wells regularly so I just rinse with a high powered stream of water and use a separate bucket of water/car wash and towels designated for "dirty use" to scrub out, dry and dress them. I'll use some AA or 303 to dress the plastic. I've also used "Back to Black" with good results. The front wheelwells on both my cars have plastic liners and that makes it easy to clean them.

Top the back to black with a protectant for better results. Back to black restores, but offers little protection.
 
I've had success with Eagle One A2Z but I think I will try the Castrol Super Clean if I can find a Wally World.
 
i use my wheel/tire brush soaked in left wash water and some eagle one a2z to wash my wheel wells. i presoak the wheel wells with the hose for an easier cleaning. then i use turtle wax wet tire foam spray which works really wellsince it foams up and distributes all over (leaves a very wet shine too). i havent tried AA yet.

Thank you. :) Would 303 do it? Usually I use this as the final coat.



Yesterday I spent a few hours just cleaning the wheelwells and the insides of the wheels. The wheelwells were rather dusty/dirty but the insides of the wheels were really bad because I recently installed new tires on them and the glue from the previous stick-on weights was still on the wheels. It took quite awhile to get everything clean on the wheels. A lot of scrubbing with Mothers aluminum polish and then a coat of wax.



Now the wheelwells and wheels are nice and clean. :xyxthumbs I also cleaned up the springs, shocks and control arms, which makes a big difference as well.
 
I use Meg's APC+ diluted 12:1 and a soft wheel brush. After their clean I spray turtle Wax foaming tire cleaner in the wells and they come out clean and black.
 
I just tried Amazing Roll Off, cleaned just fine but I don't see a noticeable coating left behind...it claims to leave a sort of wax like coating behind.
 
I had my first experience of cleaning "carpeted" wheel wells on an Audi yesterday. At first I wondered how on earth I was going to get them clean but then I just applied my normal technique. Sprayed on AG Engine and Machine Cleaner, let dwell, give it a good scrub and pressure wash off. OK so the pressure washing off took a bit longer as the carpet like material holds the cleaner a lot more, but they came up as good as new and also don't need dressing.
