What Do You Spend Monthly For Google Adwords

I plan on running an ad on Google Adwords this month. I just wanted an idea on what kind of budget to set. Competition is fairly high around my area. Any feedback would be great.

wow, so judging by this thread and my other one, absolutely no one is using adwords or facebook to promote their business. That, or nobody even comes on this website.

It may be that some do not want to disclose this information.

Competition in my area is very very low, so I spend a total of about $100/month of advertising. I plan to expand statewide (Delaware is only 1.5 hours from end to end, so focusing on the whole state is not really a problem) and I'm going to up my budget to $300/month and see whether or not I need to pull back or increase my budget. For Facebook, I dedicate about $30/month (again, I'm in a very small state) and am really only looking to build my following. I have gained many clients from Facebook that have provided a more than fantastic ROI. Adwords and word of mouth are my main advertising pieces. I recommend getting into as many places as possible, but since you asked specifically about Adwords- there's my .02.

What is the area that you are planning on targeting? Are you local or mobile? Who are your target clients? Have you used Adwords in the past or is this a new concept to you? More importantly than Adwords, are you using Analytics to support your campaign?

It's not that no one uses the thread or uses these tools, people here generally require the full back log rather than just a generic what are you doing? Also, there are many topics on Adwords. Check out the Search button, it'll help you tremendously if you don't get the feedback you're looking for.

Best of luck!

In big cities, you'll need a huge budget. In small cities, $100 might feed your business.

You asked to broad of a question while looking for a specific answer. Try whatever you feel comfortable with and make sure you track the results. What keywords did they most often click from, how long did they spend on your site, which pages they went to...

Online marketing is simple in small markets, very complicated in big ones. So much so, that I quit all marketing efforts and went to the basics. Collecting emails, calling former customers, handing out cards, and talking to everyone.

You could get better results by setting up a free Yelp and Google Places account - where I get almost all of my online traffic from.

We spend about $500 or so depending on the month...add SEO, and other social media "monitoring" and this stuff just adds up...quickly...

Your advertisment expence should be driven by your reasonable expectation of profit. I will usually spend around $100 dollars on advertising. With the understanding that my normal detail will run around $150. So by this logic, if i get just one job as a result of my advertising, i have shown a profit.

Would highly suggest using your money wisely and having a marketing company run your campaign. I'm currently using Brandefined out of California. Long story short, I found myself spending $100/mo and seeing the cash burn up in the first week of each month. Brandefined told me that w/out certain 'constraints' in place, that google will start showing your CPC ads in very random search results and click throughs will be from people not even seeking your services.

I definitely agree that if you have no idea how Google Adwords works, and works well, that you should probably hire someone to do it. There are so many intricacies about campains, ads, keywords, search terms, display networks and geo-targeting (not to mention the other 3000 possibilities) that your money can get spent so quickly. Especially if you're in a large city. Bad targeting, keywords, negative keywords, etc. will chew through a small budget in no time and provide poor results with a large budget. All in all, if your ROI is not panning out, better to have an expert take over.
