well its all over now, and paid in full...he brought a cop with him and the cop just helped me after he saw what I had (signed contract, etc).

paid in full - this guy even asked if I would do his new edge....the nerve of this guy, the cop is the same guy that was trying to ticket me everyday for a month straight and he wants a detail now of his honda (soft clear....ewwww)

glad everything worked out in the end. maybe you should detail the cops car, maybe you'll get out of a ticket or two, LOL :D

"Good thing you had a contract/repair order. Just a warning to anyone doing work:

If you don't get a signed repair order, your customer has the power/right to not pay a single dollar and take their vehicle after it's done and you won't have any recourse what so ever. If you try to hold thier vehicle, once the Police is called to the scene, they will let the owner have it. If you hide the vehicle, you'll get charged with theft. Without a shigned repair order, you get lein the vehicle either. That's right, if you do a repair to anyone's vehicle, they don't have to pay. Even if you have a verbal agreement. I've seen sereral Body Shops do multi-$1000 repairs and loose out because therir wasn't any endorsement. Make sure if you're doing work for people you don't trust, get them to sign a repair order stating what your doing to it and the price and have them sign it. "

Awsome advice. Are there any templates online for a repair order?

Great ending. We were rooting for ya brother. I guess there will always be jerks and cons in this world

Boy am I lucky to have the kind of customers that I have.

BTW, if I would ever run into an iffy client, I would tell him: I am booked for months:D:D:D:D

That is the truth Thomas. I have never had a customer try to pull something like that. I am a pretty good judge of character, and would turn a person down if I sensed anything I did not like.

the ironic thing about this whole ordeal is the cop that got called to my house by this guy was the SAME cop that ticketed me for having a headlight out in the DAYTIME (4 times, but they were thrown out no problemo, 4 tickets in 4 days = profiling/harrassment)

I gave the cop my card and hope he stops by had a great name too Officer John Pinto. I already have a detail lined up this weekend my mother in laws mercury sable (never seen wax and has what is believed to be clear coat failure, we will see soon)

thanks for all the support

I use just a program for free program called volutive google it, then i put in my template like I understand and agree to pay the given amount in full after completion of given labor.

I wonder what would be the result of you having the keys, doing the work at his place(with photo documentation along the way), but when he refused to pay you just kept his keys/fob.
