What do Dealerships use for wax?!

Some dealerships use AutoInt/ValuGard, and that's not *bad* stuff. Stoddard used to use decent 3M products (dunno what they use now).



As I've posted before, the dealer applied "lifetime sealants" (scare-quotes intentional) work out OK for some people I know; they get them for free as part of the new car bargaining and then actually insist that the dealer do the no-cost rejuvenation on a regular basis. Doesn't make for an "Autopian" finish, but it's OK for normal folks who aren't gonna have any serious detailing done.
 
As worked out in a recent post about my new car, the delearship I bought from uses technicians choice. The more I've washed it, the more I'm getting down to the underlying swirls. They told me that the wax should last at least a year - yeah right. No beading at all now and the concealing is gone after a couple of ONR washes.



For those of you who told me not to let them touch it, you were right. However, I still love my car and will work on correction in the spring. It's not great but not too horrible either.
 
Yeah, dealerships do things differently.



When I bought a Honda back in 2000 I had a free oil change to use at the dealer. I took it to the dealer one day to get the oil change and it was taking forever. I asked the service manager, who I sort of knew, what was taking so long. He told me the car was done but it was just waiting for the porter to wash it because they wash every car that comes in for work. I looked through the glass in the door to the shop and saw my car next in line. The porter was using a bucket, I'm guessing the same one for every car, with black water in it and no suds left. LOL I told them I did not want the wash and I'd just take the car now. It was a very close call. ;)
 
Work at HONDA, we never wax cars, have some wax that i use on used cars/personal cars on occasion. We sell some BS Xzylon paint sealant crap that is also $500, its all crap, if you buy a car you better just go put something good on it when you get home, NOT for $500



Also, the training on application is horrible, when we started using this stuff the guy who came to the dealership to show me how to apply it didn't even tell me how to do it properly, I read the back of the bottle and it was completely different. The main ingredient is also solvent, didn't know how good that was :grinno:
