What did I do wrong? [Backing plate problem]

Sorry I didn't update this thread sooner.

Patrick, I can't thank you enough for getting that out to me as fast as you did!

I called numerous companies to see how fast I could get a new backing plate sent to me. Unfortunately, due to my location UPS ground ALWAYS takes 5-7 days. This was not an option because I could not drive the car to work half finished. My other car is also in the garage (engine swap in progress), and I recently sold my truck. I didn't want to spend another $30 in shipping just to get it to me with 2-3 days. I gave Patrick a call, and he got it out to me in record time! I will definitely give you more business in the future!

I also cannot forget to thank Eric @ Lake Country. I took eyezack87's advice and sent him an e-mail. I bought this backing plate in 09 from a company that has since gone out of business. I only used it recently when it failed, so it's not their fault it took me over 6 months to get around to it. I just wanted to let him know I also had a problem with it. They have since redesigned the backing plate to resolve this issue, which is great. To my surprise he sent me a redesigned replacement! That really shows to me that Eric values his customers by doing this. If he had told me there is nothing he could do about this, I would understand.

Anyway, I ordered some smaller pads from Patrick, and I must say it works 100x better than the 6.5in pads I originally purchased with the PC. Definitely the way to go. I was sold on the idea of the extra protection the larger pad offered, but it just makes the job too difficult with my car. Maybe this isn't the case on other cars, but I'll never replace my 6.5 pads when they get to that point. I'm sure I'll eventually use them on something.

I've updated my original thread, and included a photo of my car.

Thanks guys!

Smaller pads for sure. I recently purchased a used 7335 (use to have a 7424). I checked around seeing if my old pads would work for it, and the general concensus was that with the 5" counter weight, and a 5 in backing pad, 6.5" pads would be a not so good idea.

Glad it worked for ya. Eric is a great guy for sure. Keep an eye out for another "project" he is doing. I only heard about it by chance while hanging out with Richard Lin (developer of Black Wow). I'm very excited to see it in production if the concept works :D

Eh, I'm the guy who likes that 6" counterweight with *all* sizes of pads, but the diffs are pretty minor and lots of people say they can't tell *any* difference. And yeah, a 5" plate is kinda small for a pad that's 1.5" larger. But the real issue with 6.5" pads is that they're so big that they create too much friction and virtually zero work ends up getting done.
