Hey Jason, I got a Braun Activator shaver as well for X-mas. I love it. I've had Braun shavers in the past but have been using a Philishave lately and didn't like it at all. This new Braun is awesome. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Got my daughter a pair of Grado SR60s. I was sick & tired of buying cheap crappy sounding headphones every 6 months. I picked the Grados as the safest choice and the one I'd already heard. Good cans make personal listening very satisfying.

Tom

The Grados would've been my second choice, but I couldn't justify the $70 price tag with the minimal sound improvement over the AKGs.

From Amazon, I got them shipped for a total price of $43.

My next step up in sound quality would be the SR60s, but I love these cans and hopefully they're rugged enough to stand up to years of listening!

Grado sure does make killer headphones, though.:bigups

My friend(an uber-audiophile) had a pair of RS-1s, but he still wasn't perfectly happy with them!(what are they? like $700???) Anyways, now he runs some top of the line beyerdynamic phones.

I guess he spends all of his money on audio gear, while I have to split mine between school, car stuff, and audio stuff.

I work on a hobbyist basis recording local musicians live to 2 track in hirez 24/88.2khz and our lead engineer uses RS-1s. They are very revealing and natural sounding. I spend all my money on audio when I'm not detailing. :D

I am an audiophile as well. What do you think of Rotel amps??? I thinking of picking up the 200watt version in the near future.

I got a bunch of bar tools - speed pours, shakers, strainers, jiggers, bitters... I love mixing drinks (I'm also approaching small bar status with approximately 80 bottles on the shelf) :D

And a couple detailing-related items:

- QEW (though I think it's more for everyone else here... so I'll wash their cars in the winter)

- Optimum Compound

The neighbor thought she was being funny... "I saw this and HAD to get it for you":

- "GardenPlus Flashlight Nozzle" from Lowe's - yes, a trigger sprayer nozzle with an integrated flashlight. I guess I spend too much time washing cars after sunset :D

Rotel make some decent equipment but why do you need 200 watts.

Detailing related...

-Trade Secret

-Poorboy's Polish w/ Carnuaba (Blue)

Non-detailing related...

Car jack and stands, bunch of DVDs, and a bunch of some nice sweaters and shirts.

I consider myself a pretty lucky guy with the car I drive sitting in my garage, so I really didn't want to much.

Rotel is a very high quality brand. Their 1062 preamp is also very good, won an award from HiFi+

I like their five channel amp, a friend has one. They are owned by the same company that owns B&W speakers.

Well, to my audiophile friends, as my daughter has grown older, it seems that the house has gotten smaller; and sounds that were once welcome (Dad's stereo) now interfere with homework. So, while it wasn't technically a Christmas present, when Dad (Mosca) ordered the Grados, he also got this Headroom Micro Amp

and these Sennheiser HD-595s

0020080595_156.jpg

along with a Kimber interconnect to go between the amp and the source!

I'd been using a Total Airhead amp and Etymotic ER-4s, but the Etymotics kept giving me ear problems. I'll use those on airplanes.

SilverLexus, I made the mistake a couple-three years ago of getting a BEL 980 based on a website that purportedly rated the different detectors. I don't care for it; it is an ergonomic nightmare. The mount is poorly designed, the lights are weak, and the signal isn't loud enough to hear with the top down. I wound up not using it ever. I haven't plugged it in in over a year. But, I didn't want to spring the $400 for the V-1. This was a good way to get something I wouldn't have gotten myself. That was nice of them!

Tom,

The Headroom amps are great but Musical Fidelity and Antique Sound Labs also make some good ones. I prefer tubes when possible - they sound more natural.

I agree they sound very natural. I just recently picked up a set of RS-8s and man do I love them, but mostly for their ability down low. They don't have near as much bass potential as my SVS sub, but they have an entirely different type of bass output. Much cleaner and more punchy than the sub. I find myself switching between bass out the sub only and bass out the mains only just to hear the differences in songs.

I'm sure your Klipsches sound great, too, though :up
