What counter weight to use with Edge 2000 pads?

I have a 7424 & just got my Quick connect adapter from Dwayne along with 3 of the Edge 2000 DA Dura-Foam Foam Pads, should I use the 5" or the 6" counter weight? I have the 5" on there & when I hooked everything up & turned it on, I was getting some pretty serious vibration..dumb question, but I haven't used my PC yet, & I do not know how much vibration to expect. Thanks in advance.

the backing plate and counterweight size should be the same. 5' plate = 5"counterweight. same for the 6". This will help the vibration.

I use a 6" counterweight. Make sure you have the revised E2K DA quick connect too. The original version was longer and resulted in harsher vibrations at higher speeds.

Where do you get the 6" counterweight?
I believe the 7424 comes with the 5.

Is the plate in the Edge 2K pads = to 5" or 6" ?
Or does it matter?
You guys are using the 6" weight with the 2K pads for best results?

I have a 7336SP which came stock with a 6" counterweight. Many online shops which sell the 7424 also offer the 6" counterweight as a separate item.

The plastic piece in the middle of the E2K DA pad is probably around 5" since it's recessed from the edge of the 6" pads. I believe that the 6" counterweight is regarded as the best fit for the E2K setup.

Dwayne is great with stuff like that. Even if an item isn't officially listed on the PAC website, it doesn't mean that Dwayne can't get it for you. He's helped me out with special orders a number of times. :)

A few answers:
We don't recommend one or the other counterweight but we did our testing with the 6inch one. The Edge2000 system for the PC is a custom modification and will require you to experiment with counterweights and speeds to get a comfortable feel. Some people did not have a problem with the longer adapter while others say its too much vibration. Some people think that even with the shorter adapter there is too much vibration so its really a personal feel. My feeling is that with the 6inch counter weight and on a setting of 4.5-5 max the system is SUPURB! If you really need speed 6 you should invest in a rotary because what you are trying to do with a PC is at the very limits of the machines capabilites but only the start of the rotary's. The inner plate is 4 inches with glue extending to 5 inches and the pad is 6inches so it would seem that the 6 inch weight would work best. With those settings you will not have alot of vibration and you will produce some beautiful results with a some great pads, and the only snap on double sided automatically centering (no velcro, no backing plate) pad on the market. As always we are here to answer your questions and will always continue to develop the products to meet your needs, requests, and suggestions.

I agree with everything Aaron said. The system works good but I don't use the PC on 6 anymore. I can't say I miss speed 6 anyway...I have a rotary now too.

Norah: How much $ for the weight thru Dwayne?

Thanks

Sorry, I don't know, I didn't ask him. I'm having him add it in to another order I have coming out, so it was kind of a hurried thing. That's not how I usually shop, but I'm sure that his price will be fair, and I'll get my 10% DC discount.

I just got the 2k system and thought it caused unacceptable vibration with the 5" counterweight. I called Dwayne and he told me that even the new short adaptor required the 6" counterweight. I ordered it but haven't received it yet. I think it might be a good idea for everybody who sells the Edge 2000 system to also recommend and sell the short adaptor and the 6" counterweight. It would have saved me time and hassle and shipping costs.

Dwayne says it should be @ $4 after DC discount - small price to pay for less vibration IMHO!

fwiw, I did not notice a HUGE difference between 5" and 6" weights. I just decided to use the 6" since it *seemed* to work better. YMMV
