Did a panel on my father car black 4runner. Removed everything I wanted. Did orange Propel pad with optimum. Then green Propel with optimum and found hazing. Tried some poorboys ssr2 and then ssr1 but still had hazing. Am i moving the PC to fast? Not working the product long enough?

Products I have

Optimum Polish

SSR 1, 2, 2.5

Mez IP and FPII

Propel pads

Zaino ZPC

Recommendations welcome ill play with it tommorow. Be specific if possible. With speeds and pads. Chris

Did you notice the hazing after the Optimum on the orange pad? I've never had hazing with optimum but that seems like the only combo abrasive enough to do it. Seems weird that Optimum on a green and ssr 2 wouldn't take it out. Try going over it again with Optimum on the green pad and take it really slow and apply a decent amount of pressure. If that doesn't do it SSR 2.5 on a polishing pad should for sure, and either one will leave you with an LSP ready finish.

Thats what I was thinking of doing. Saw it after orange and opt. I was thinking the opt and the green and just do it a few time. Just hard to judge when its done one of the first times using it. Been using SSR products mostly, but there work time is very short. One reason im trying other products. Chris

In my previous experiences from long ago, hazing can be caused by using products that are too agressive for the finish (pads or compound / polish), or using too much pressure or too much heat or it could be as simple as dirty pads. I don't have enough experience with all the products you mentioned to know the particulars of each, but I'd recommend working with a less agressive pad. Optimum or one of the less agressive SSR's should do the trick in combination with a less agressive clean pad.

gadsan brings up a good point - your pad might be dirty? Optimum polish isn't a very aggressive polish, even on a cutting pads it's probably only the equivilant of SSR2, so if you're seeing hazing it might be more the pad at work than the polish - perhaps you weren't using enough product? I tend to use a little more optimum per panel than SSR. Just a thought. Either way, give the optimum and the green pad another go, just move nice and slow. If that still doesn't do it try the 2.5.
