What are you running for a summer performance Tire

I'm running with Nitto NT 555 in the 255/35/18 size. This tire is similar to the NT05, but a bit more street friendly. It has a higher treadwear so the tires will last longer than the NT05. They handle, feel, and stick VERY well. The price ran me to $850 for all four tires (at Discount Tire), which is competitively priced with other tires in its class such as the Potenza, Yokohama s.Drive, Pirelli P-Zero series and others. The ideal tire (IMHO) are the Nitto NT05, or even better: Nitto NT01.

I bought a set of wheels for my GS400 with that came with the Hankook V12 evo's and I have to say I am pretty impressed after only a few hundred miles. Wet traction is really good, they are quiet, ride comfort is outstanding, and the price is unbeatable. For a high performance tire I would consider them to be a bit on the "soft" side under hard cornering which is why the ride comfort is probably so good. As with all tires there are always trade-offs.....it just depends on what you really want most. In my case this tire fits my requirements pretty well. If I can get 25-30K miles I will probably buy them again.

Potenza RE050A. I've had my fair share of sticky tires and these are by far the best handling tire I've ever had. Noise and ride is pretty good considering the level of grip and how composed the car is once you do start to slide.

Same here-actually have the run flat versions since I had a friend buy a BMW for parts and the tires were nearly new-sold me the set for $300. Ended up replacing two of the tires last month with Bridgestone RE-0760 sports since the 050's have such a rough ride over crappy roads, which is all we seem to have here. The 760s seem as grippy as the 050s do and are definitely quieter. Both have significantly more grip than the Falken ZE-912s I had been running.

Depending on where you're at will determine what tires you should get. I'm running Nitto INVOs, and I love them. They're fantastic wet tires, and have massive amounts of grip. But they're not exactly cheap (not that any tires in my size are), and they're probably not going to last very much (they're the 2nd most aggressive Nitto road tire).

I concur on the INVO's, they are solid on wet roads but come with a price. I love how quit they are as well, I almost went with bfg kdw but everyone complained on how loud they were and they weren't that great in the rain either. Not to mention the very cool tread design they have and as you can see the main water channels are as wide as a penny so they can move some water in a hurry.

I'm currently running Falken Azenis RT615.

It's a great tire for it's time, but there are far better options available now for the same price. Currently, the new RT-615K is priced at the same point as far superior tires such as the AD-08 and Dunlop Z1s.

The Azenis were great in the beginning in every aspect and I loved the stiff sidewall, but as the tire wore down (rather quickly for a rating of 200), the wet grip dropped a LOT and overall grip decreased dramatically. I felt like I had to relearn the car. I've almost hydroplaned into oncoming traffic a couple of times...the tire is unpredictable now.

A few guys that I track with are using Z1s and I will likely go with them as they are cheaper than the AD-08s. The treadwear is amazing and the level of grip is impressive. Can't wait :)

Invo's are good tires. Had a set for a few months. Currently on Michelin Pilot Sport RIB's... no complaints. Great dry traction. Stable handling. I can't comment on wet weather performance. Car doesn't get driven in the rain.

Update on my Hankook tires. After 12K miles they were down to 5/32.....that is about as low as I go. My biggest pet peeve is wet weather traction and after 5/32 is just ain't there on any tire IMHO. Replaced them with all season Michelin Exalto even though they are only H rated.....I just don't drive so fast to need the Y rated tire and I am tired of buying tires every year for my tire eating GS400.

That is why I bought Z1 Star Specs for my Evo. Their wet-weather performance is highly-touted.

I've heard the Hankooks were ok but not great in the wet.

Just bought

Bridgestone RE-11's for the Cayman (track)

Michelin Super Sports for the Cayman (street)

Sumitomo HRTZ-3 for the Carrera

Now I am poor.
