What are ya'll using to get DEEP inside the wheels

I was at PepBoys picking up some dielectric grease and came across a spoke cleaner that I picked up. Shaped like a typical spoke cleaner - plastic handle and black sheepskin outer.

It's won't reach inside BUT for my mesh type wheels, it will make things easier.

I currently only use SS mitts my wheels and have to do finger acrobatics to get the spokes clean. I'm getting closer to finder better tools.........but not there yet.

Use what you want, spend it where you want, but the PS pays for itself in short order. Maybe its just not in your economic range of acceptance.........

Get yourself in a boatload of these positions, and you'll see what I mean.......

That thing is a joke in my book............

Amen bros..........
The price is well within my economic range, thats not the point to me.

My DD's brake calipers are closer to the wheel, then the Z06 pic you showed. Try cleaning behind that caliper after 30,000km's of driving on those wheels, and you'll see what I mean. And I still wont use a brush. They just haven't cleaned well enough for me. I always have to go back with an MF pad, and snake it behind the caliper.

I can see this doing good on wheels that are pretty clean to begin with. But with caked on brake dust, I just havent seen it get the results you guys say without it scratching the clearcoat. Would anyone actually use these on their paint?

PS. I first said it might be the height of stupidity to buy this brush. I take that back, thats rude. My opinion still stands, but I apolojize for the delivery.

I'm probably in a different situation from you...I never clean anything that's too bad for light agitation and regular shampoo mix (unless I'm doing the initial cleanup of a new-to-me used car).

I dunno if I'd (really) use that on my paint, but I'd CD-Test it and go from there.

Oh, and that was considerate of you, rephrasing your opinion :xyxthumbs

I've used my EZ-detail brush on the "backside" of wheel offerings from Volvo, VW, and Honda. I haven't witnessed any visible marring, but granted these wheels don't have highly polished inside rims and I haven't pulled the wheels to do any close-up inspection.

Well, I never got any marring to speak of on the MPV or the A8's wheels, but those are the nicest ones I'd use it on...not that I just categorized my wife's A8 as a beater car :o

I have A8 wheels and the back of them are rough cast. You couldn't detect any marring if you tried, beside my opinion is the back of the wheel is the back of wheel...know what I mean. I'm not jabbing at Accumulator, we've had this discussion before.

I got one of these from K-mart...

Mr Clean Dish Brush. It works so well it's scary.

If you want one of those fancy spinning gizmos then just hack off the end of it and stick it in the drill chuck, boom.

Do your A8 wheels (heh heh, I still remember your quip about your VW wanting to be an A8 when it grows up :chuckle: ) still have paint on the back sides?

Yeah, the A8 wheels back side isn't finished nearly as nicely as the ones on the S8. Heh heh, that's why I don't mind EZ Brushing them. But *man* is the paint on the A8 ones thin back there...a few heavy clayings and a polish or two and it's pretty much gone. I'll be pulling the A8 wheels off next month to mount the snows, and I'll take a close look at 'em, see how they're holding up. Last year I figured I'd done that last heavy polishing lest they need refinished.

They are painted but it's over a rough cast aluminum. It's a PITA to clean b/c it holds all the dirt.

As such I scrub the crap out of them... I think I'm just going to get them re-painted in the back over the winter because it's so hard to clean them and the prior owner(of the wheels) wasn't much of a "cleaner".

The wife's Jetta has a smooth finish on the back of the wheels, the Mr. Clean dish thing does wonders for those, it even gets between the caliper and rim...

Hello Everyone - My name is Jay Camina, the inventor and manufacturer of the ACE PowerStick. (At one point we called them the White Knight PowerStick & ProperAutoCare.com sells them under their "Blackfire" product line.) I came across this forum by accident and am very happy to read all the posts on the PowerStick. I would like to address any questions related to each post. There were a lot of good questions and concerns that I can objectively address. Over the next day or two, I will respond to each post that I can offer information on. I know some of you will assume I am biased, and your right, but I will respond 100% truthfully. I originally created the PowerStick out of my own necessity to clean the wheels of my own cars without having to take them off the car. When I came up with the idea, design and materials to use, my main focus was to make the best quality wheel cleaning brush that will clean an area of a wheel that no product does. Price was my last concern...quality, design and functionality was my top priority. I will address the issue of cost which many have mentioned and explain why they are pretty expensive. I am pleased to be a part of the forum and look forward to being a contributing member. If you wanted to Google ACE PowerStick, you should get a bunch of links to helpful information.

Regards,

Jay Camina
