What are the right procedures to restore a headlight?

Well I have a Dewalt 849 polisher and polishing compound is this all I need ?

Any correct procedures ? I was thinking of just putting compound on headlight and polishing it, is this right ?

while it has been done it is not the best way. depending on how yellow/faded the headlights will guide you as to what grit sandpaper to start with.

All depends on the condition of the headlights really. Some just need a quick polish, others need a lot of sanding then polishing.

Whats the highest grit sand paper you guys would go ?

are you going to reapply a uv coating (800-1000) or polish back to clear (2000-4000) and keep wax?

And heed the warning not to build up too much heat. Lenses can crack fast!

what is the coating called. most the headlight coatings i'm familiar with are uv cured.
