Hi Everyone,
Glad the site is up and running. Been chatting over at the Autogeek forums and on my mini forums and am curious about just what to purchase.
I have a 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman S with Horizon blue metallic paint. It was on the dealer lot for 4 weeks or so and has some teeny tiny water spots on it. I have clayed it but they will not come out. The pillars also have some very small swirls on it from a not so careful detailer when the car was sold to us.
I would LOVE to purchase a PC 7424 and associated products to keep this car in better than showroom shape! I am a bit scared of using too great a polish/swirl remover because this baby will be with us for a long long time...hence my rationale for going at it the right way from the get go.
I also have a VW 2005.5 Jetta TDI Platinum gray paint. It is in very good shape with some of the small water spots and if it has swirls I cannot see them.:nervous:
Soooo my question to all of you is where would you start for items to purchase? I have a garage full of old Meguiars cleaner waxes, pastes, quick detailing sprays, etc....BUT I would like to make the step up to some of the more Non-over the counter stuff.
I would assume that I should wash, clay, polish lightly, seal/wax. Would it be bad to polish and then use a sealant THEN put on a carnuba wax to get the liquid look from the cars?
Once this is done I believe I should be in a maintenance stage....prepwork done correctly should help this I think.
From there I will begin to attack the other two vehicles that are more in need of a more aggressive technique.
Thoughts and suggestions?
One other note.....I think that the smaller pads would work better for me as I have roof rails, trim, emblems that I think the 6.5" pads would be harder to use.
Appreciate all the suggestions and recommendations.....hopefully I can purchase tonight so that I can be up and running in the next week or so before a surgery I have to have done.
Thanks!
