What are some good wipers to user?

I'm needing to get some replacement wipers before too long and was wondering what are some good brands and types out there. I've been looking at the piaa wipers, but I'd like to see what else is comparable. Any reccomendations?

I use the Rain-X Weatherbeaters (with the metal frame) I do not recommend using their latitude line, it always streaks for me. But these have been going strong for 4 months now, I just make sure to do a run over with a rag and some glass cleaner everytime I was the window, it still doesn't streak :heelclick

I personally use any of the wipers of the Bosch brand. However, considering that my windshields and windows are generally well protected, I really don't use them all too often.

The last article I read from Consumer Reports, they had the Rain X as the top blade ( I can't remember the exact name of it) They also concluded most blades were toast after 6 months

The OEM blades on my car were unbelievably noisy to the point the dealer tried everything to stop the noise and was ready to replace the windshiled. I tried PIAA Super Silicone inserts and they were immediately silent, wiped clean, and are long lasting.

In a recent CR issue. they rated Valeo 600 tops, RainX Lattitude second, with Anco 31 series and Michelin Rainforce as 3rd and 4th. Based upon the scoring (just a few points), it is not clear if there is any meaningful difference in top 10 blades. Often they try to make a difference when there is not much difference. They do not mention wiper noise -- one of my criteria.

Per their report, the RainX did not clean as well as many other blades but lasted more than 6 months so I guess it is more consistent.

What I get out of it is that you can buy 2 Anco's for the price of a pricey beam blades. I think others speak more highly of beam blades.

Other factors: what brand of wiper fluid used, etc. These variables could affect results.

Bosch ICONS

I was looking at those, but I thought they looked kind of cheap being constructed of a big piece of rubber and then having a thin stip for the blade itself.

How are the PIAA Super Silicone blades when usign RainX? Does it cause them to chatter or streak?

the one blade is actually how they are designed, instead of 6 points of contact, there is one huge blade that provides uniform pressure across the blade to prevent streaking

Bosch ICON Wiper Blade - OE Bracketless Technology for the Aftermarket

I use Bosch

I've been really happy with the icon's. They have lasted long through lots of nasty weather. On vehicles that you can really see the wiperblades, they look good as well.

Very happy with the Bosch ICON's I installed on my Focus. Have about 35k on them and still work great.

Agreed. I've had them on my BMW for about 9 months without any streaking/shuttering!

TIP - Make sure you clean them regularly with Rubbing Alcohol to get maximum quality and performance!!

I've been really happy with the Michelins from Wal-Mart, for a $10 wiper they are fantastic. Most of the cheaper blades I have used never lasted more than 6 mos but the michelins are good for at least a year.

I'm going to go with the PIAA super silicon wipers. I see that PIAA offers them in a standard wiper blade and another called the super sporza that has wings at the bottom to help hold them down. Right now my OEM wipers have a small wing on the bottom of the wipers so I'm thinking of the super sporzas. From the pictures it's hard to tell how big the wing on the blade actually is. I don't want some tacky looking wipers that have wings on them that look like they belong on a plane. Does anyone here have these wipers and could tell me how they actually look in person?
