What are brands of sanding disc that I could order?

I have BFG ko AT tires and the lugs on the tires are huge, so it's a real pain to wipe between each lug to get a even shine on the tire. I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion on a good tire spray thats needs little buffing but still looks even when it's dry.

I think I have the same tires as you, BFG TA KDW or something like that, they are the stock tires on the Camaro SS's with the 17 inch ZR1 style rim.



I just use 1/2 of a tire swipe to cover them. I need to make one pass first to get the lip of the tire when it meets the rim and then the second pass to get the other 98% of the tire face.
 
The Tires are 33 in all terrain truck tires on a f150 and they have a heavy sidewall lug that is a pain to cover with protectant I will try the brush, but I was looking for a protectant that looked good even with out buffing. Everyone I have used so far looks bad unless you buff it to make it even.
 
Castrol makes a spray-on tire dressing that is good. Nice shine and does not call for wiping. The only drawback is that you must allow it to dry. As the drying process occurs the glossiness increases. I personally wipe after drying to remove any excess. Very easy to use for large and complicated situations. :up

This product can be found in most automotive stores including Wally World. It is in a purple bottle.
 
Ive been using some eagle super-track yellow p1500 disc, with Foam interface pad for heavy cutting, and the Eagle buflex 3000 grit for final?


but what are some other brands that aren't retardedly expensive? I've seen other brands listed before, thanks for any help?


I know the 3m and meguiars are out there but are really expensive. If you know of a good place to get those at a decent price would help also?

I would really like to know as well. I have been looking for good sanding discs that arent going to break the bank. I come across repainted pannels that need some sanding and could definitely use some 3000 and sometimes more. If you dont want to share it on here could you PM me.

:iagree: id also love to know what sandpaper you are going to get. i do agree with you that the 3m and meguiars ones are and arm and a leg. or maybe just a leg. it would be great if you guys share what sandpaper you guys are getting.
 
Mirka offers a good product, too. The Abranet Soft series is definitely the king of leveling. If you were to compare an Abranet disk and some other disk of the same grade, the surface would be more level with the Abranet.

The Abralon series from Mirka offers a few higher grits and an added interface pad.

As of late, the Unigrit disks are my favorite. They level nicely and leave even defects. I don't have to constantly be looking for pigtails. And, the 3000 finishing disks really reduce my work time.

To me, the added cost is worth it. It's extremely frustrating to chase after stray pigtails that could have been avoided.
 
I can say this right now, I LOVE the Mirka Abranet Soft!

I have spent this entire week out here in Charlotte NC, wetsanding two different cars. and that is the whole reason I started this thread. I knew that I had these jobs scheduled and the crappy film disc that I was using sucked. So with the help of Kevin brown, he got me the info I needed to fix my situation.

I used the Abranet Soft 1500 to level out the orange peel and runs

and the Abranet soft 2500 to finish it out. and that is really all you need.


The first car I did, I had to wetsand the whole front end (fenders, hood and front bumper) and I used ONLY 1 disc of each grit and it makes it so fast and smooth!

but the second car that I worked on had really hard clear coat mixed in, So I was using 1 disc for every panel and a half.

The Reason why is works so good, is because of the "netting" that it is weaved with, it lets the air flow stay flowing and it helps keep it from hydroplaning and crashing on the paint. No more pigtails.

i will try to get a little more info on this thread, but I gotta get back to work.
 
Ok I just ordered some of the Abranet ones. I have been looking for some sanding discs to work on a few cars and Ive decided to give these a shot. They are reasonably priced and if you have had good luck with them and Kevin Brown likes them thats enough to convince me to give them a shot.

On a side note, next time you're in Charlotte, give a shout. There are a couple of guys on here from the area and a local get-together would be awesome.

I just typed in "abranet soft" into google. It gave me a website like mirkaonline or something similar. But just highlight what Eric posted and paste it in google. It will be one of the tops to show up.
 
Amazon or Kevin brown, you can get them from both. but I'm not sure If Kevin brown's business is up all the way yet
