What am I missing?

I recently have been reading ALOT on this forum and decided to order a lot of stuff to do my first paint correction. Here's what I have to work with(trying to go in order from wash to lsp):

  1. CG Maxi Suds II or ONR
  2. Sheepskin Mitt, Grit guard, Wash Buckets
  3. Clay Magic Blue
  4. A bunch of Microfibers
  5. 3M Blue Painter's Tape
  6. PC 7424XP & 4" backing plate
  7. 6" Counter weight
  8. LC 4" Pads (2 of each):Purple wool, White, Blue, Black, Yellow, Orange, Green
  9. Menzerna SIP & PO85RD
  10. IPA & Distilled Water
  11. 500W Halogen
  12. Klasse AIO
  13. FK 1000P
  14. Dodo Supernatural
  15. FK 425

From a paint correction standpoint only, is there anything else that I MUST need in order to get good results or make my life easier? I am going to be doing my car, which is a Jet Black BMW with a reputation of soft single stage paint (I believe). And yes I have used the search feature many many times, hence the quality products in my arsenal. Just don't want to have overlooked anything. Any help would be appreciated.TIA.:thx

looks to me like you are a bit over prepared haha.

One thing I did notice is that if your paint is single stage, you wont need that many different pads but rather more quantity of certain pads. When the paint starts coming off onto your pad, you will need to either switch them or clean them :\

Either way, you have got what you need. good luck.

Looks like you are ready to go, great starting arsenal. I am a huge fan of ONR as it is great wash and is also a great clay lube. My only advice would be good MF's ( MONSTER MICROFIBER JUMBO ABSORBER ) and get the 3M Blue painter's tape for delicate surfaces (orange inner label-much easier to work with).

I recently corrected a Carbon Black E46 M3 and an Imola Red E46 ZHP so PM me if you have any specific questions.

I didn't realize that it required more than 2 of any pad for a single correction. I just bought a package of pads thats why I have all the different pads.

I think I also have the green automotive painters tape as well, will that do? I will definitely PM you with questions in the near future. Appreciate the help.

teej361- AFAIK your BMW doesn't have single stage paint, but rather basecoat/clearcoat; it's just that the Jet Black has very, very soft clear, different from other BMW paints.

Either way, the diff between ss and b/c is no biggie. You get the same amount of paint coming off with b/c you just don't notice it so readily because the clearcoat coming off is, well, clear.

Clean your pads more often than you think necessary. I'd use the green tape instead of the blue.

Thanks for clearing that up. I knew that the Jet Black was different from the others. Also how often is more often when cleaning pads? Like after every pass?

Thanks for the feedback!

Try your local autoparts store they usually have it. My local Autozone stocks it.

I just got it at walmart in the automotive section.

I get mine at the local autobody/paint supply store. Check the yellowpages, thoe places are great for expanding one's notion of "OTC".

If you can't find the green tape, the 3M Blue for Delicate Surfaces is almost always OK, just don't grind it up with the polishing pad too much (and don't panic about the blue pigment transfer if you polish over it) and take it off promptly.
