What a Winter

If we all tap really loud on the ground (UFC style), do you think Mother Nature will stop? More snow tomorrow, and then even more next week.

I think it's funny that your car is telling you that it's feeling just a little bit better.;)

4th consecutive day we can't get above freezing! Can't even get into the 30s! Woke up about midnight, it looked like daylight. Got up to find several inches of snow covering the landscape. Got up this a.m. to find what appears to be 4-5 inches! My cousin said it pretty well...we must be in the Land of Oz, 'cause this ain't NE Texas. 2 years in a row with snow??? Maybe it is just our Texas hospitality making sure the visitors from Pittsburg and Green Bay feel at home :howdy Guys and gals, make sure ya'll have got your plane tickets, bus passes etc. so you can go home after the game and take this weather with you. Former UT Longhorn QB, now with the Cleveland Browns is in town and all but admitted he brought this with him.

HEY SCOTT P, about that snow shovel......:D

Welcome to our nightmare

do they even sell snow shovels in Texas  :hmmm:

:idea "money making idea" Superbowl ice Scrapers and Snow Shovels ... yeah that's the ticket :notme:

Can't say that I've ever seen a snow shovel, so I'm not sure but we have "gravel" shovels (shallow/wide) which might work but I ain't got one. No snow plows either. Can't even see the lane markers, just a hope and a prayer for those who are out. I'm in!

Just saw the weather forecast which isolated our area and a small area to our East which is due to receive possibly another 3". Sure enough looked out the window and it is snowing again!

Great idea, but how are ya gonna get over there for product delivery? :surrender :D

According to the weather maps, the initial snow came (amazingly) from the South possibly around San Antonio. Wonder if Scott P woke to a winter wonderland?

We were told to expect 2-5 inches of snow between yesterday and today. We ended up with a 1/4 or more of freezing rain or ice in most places. Cars are sliding on the overpasses and flyovers. The news has been on non-stop all morning talking about the "winter storm". Some idiots are even moving the barriers so they can get on the closed highways. Temps will be lucky to get above freezing today.

The city is more or less closed, but people are getting bored in their houses and want to go sightseeing. Idjits....

well if there were any shovels left around here, I'd buy them up and send Pockets with a truck full ... but unfortunately most places are either out or very low on supplies :wall

Scott P, friends in Austin sent some pics, looks like they got just enough to completely cover streets and sidewalks.

Cabin fever is evidently raging around here with folks stuck at home with their kids for 4 days. I got Mrs. Clean to work Mon, Wed, Thur. We stopped off at the store last night on the way home to pick up a few things, but were going to do our SB meal shopping today. Obviously didn't place much faith in the forecasts for snow yesterday evening and today. Didn't even bother bringing any firewood under cover. So I'm out. Hadn't burned the FP in at least 3 years and the wood is about 6 years old...can you say seasoned? :D

Steve, don't bother sending Pockets with the shovels, send him with the plow! :rofl

Our fireplace is a gas log. :) I use wood for the smoker. I have a propane torpedo style heater if I really needed to use it. I also have the generator ready to go and already plugged into the transfer switch. I'm the only guy on the street with it powering the furnace, so I'm sure my house would be a party soon enough.

I have a gas starter in ours (I know...I know...all you woodsmen out there), but I refuse to have a FP with a fire I can't stand around and poke and prod! Guess I've always bee something of a pyro...favorite part of camping out was the campfire. Before I ever set up my tent I scouted out the best campfire pokin' stick. :D

BUT! You have a fire and I don't so there ya go :D

PARTY at Scott P's...ya heard it here first! :rofl

UPDATE: The snowing just stopped. Looks to be @ 6"+. But more than that I have a "snow drift" on the north side of one of my trees in the front yard! :D And more good news, we might make 25o today...that just don't sound like much to get excited about, but will be the warmest since Tuesday morning when I think we made it to 28o :( This is just weird!

Scott P, have the party guests begin to show up at the door yet? :D

This is "end of the world" Armageddon-type sh!t huh?

Well, it's not currently snowing here, but my first actual detailing appointment in like 2 weeks just called to cancel because he can't get his car out of the driveway since it's a sheet of ice.

Oh well, at least the Spring and Summer Microbrews are starting to hit the shelves. Someone remind me to start sobering up in about a month or so.

Well, it is definitely weird! This is the kind of stuff we half wished for back as kids, but then we realized that while many were shivering we were out riding our new Christmas bikes. :)

Bad news for Tmac! Just saw the weather map and the snow that had departed our area is headed in your direction! Accumulations of 12"+ predicted for ya'll.

Scott P, looks like ya'll are in the clear.

you think that's a sign? We were at Costco the other day (going back again today)
and they had bathing suits out :inspector: :lmfao the power of thought :notme:

LOL, Steve one of the local news stations is running a promo saying somthing to the effect of (paraphrased) "embrace the cold...remember it will soon be 105o...stay warm". I look outside and wonder when...

we'll only get a dusting tomorrow and some rain, but Thursday they are already talking about another Nor Easter :surrender
