What a good DG combo for black ? or Megs ?

My truck is new 2011 black GMC . It get subject to the elements since it sits outside 24/7 .



The only think I've done to it is layer of 1000p , but it does not look as well as hoped and even though I only put 1 coat on i had a bird do its thing on the hood and that layer of 1000p did not protect it enough so it etched the clearcoat which really surprised me . I was thinking of going to DG since i have a lot of the stuff and have had good luck with it.



Its in possible to stay marring free since its already has a slight marring so I also want to keep it to a minimum .



vehicle had been prepped and polished .



I need shine , depth and durability !!!



I also have some 845 here too , but I thought it lightens paint , not deepens it . would that be a better choice ??



Or should I do Megs cleaner/polish , followed by #21 (2.0) and then maintain with #26 or maybe not.

Do you use DG stuff in your business Sal ? Why do you suggest 501 over like a 105 ? and maybe maintaining with 111 ?



Although I have not tried Optimum products in years , would you think that line would be a better option ? When I have used it it did shine nice (nothing mind blowing IMO) on prev. vehicles , but did not hold up. I do still use ONR though . Thats good stuff.
 
We have a 2011 Carbon Black Buick Regal and in November I simply applied DG 601 Polish Bonding Agent to the whole car, allowed it to haze over, then applied DG 105 Total Performance Polish over top of the DG 601. After 30 minutes I removed the combo, waited 2 hours then wiped down with DG Aqua Wax. This lasted the whole Winter through road salt and frequent visits to the touchless. In April I started a monthly maintenance with DG Aqua Wax to extend the gloss. The DG 105 did not mute the flakes at all in the paint, gave it a little deeper look, and was a breeze to use.



For your light marring you could try DG 652 Pre-Cleaner No. 2 or even DG 671 Swirl Mark Remover. PC-2 does not contain protective polymers like Swirl Mark Remover which makes it a great paint cleanser when used by hand instead of machine. DG 501 is a great paint cleaner with a massive amount of protective polymers, making it a great all in one.



So if you're not worried about the light marring, I would go with the DG 601/501 to clean the paint and lay a strong protective foundation for DG 601/105. Use DG Car Wash Concentrate as your maintenance wash and follow up with DG Aqua Wax bi-weekly to monthly for long term shine & protection. There are 2 ways to use the DG 601 PBA, the traditional wipe on-haze-apply next product over top, or you can use it the way Richy created by mixing 4 parts 105 or 501 or 111 etc. to 1 part 601 PBA (4:1). For your truck I would start with 1/2 oz. 601 and 2oz. 501 or 105 and shake well. Have fun!

I don't know if William had any input, but Jerry works in the lab and he confirmed this process as "brilliant". There have been reports of topping this combo immediately but I wait 2 hours personally. Feel free to call them on Monday and ask for Jerry, he is a super nice guy and will help you with any question.

I put a coat on of 501 and it looks stunning. I like it much better than before with the 1000p on it . Just my preference ( nothing against 1000p )



I did it on saturday afternoon . Do you think I should start topping it yet ? I was thinking 105 or should I leave it alone ? Like I said it's black and sits outside . Thats why I want to get some layers on it .

I use DG a lot, why 501? I don't know lol I just like it better then the 105, it cleans better to me lasts longer and looks the same. 111 is a nice looking *true* sealant. I like to mix 601 with 501 and use that as a base for carnauba or even 111

Correction - I just spoke to Richy and it was actually Jerry@Duragloss who recommended that combo. Richy had a fleet of cars and asked Jerry what he could do to speed up the process. Thanks for the correction Richy!
 
Thanks Sal. I almost have to agree . After I put the 501 on I didn't want to touch it with anything else it looked so good. BUT..... I broke down and did a 105 over the top of it. Still looks fantastic , but I do think that the 105 deepened my black paints look ever so slightly . Now I am debating putting a 111 over the top of that , but not sure if I will do that or not. Thank you for the help guys . I will try to send you a PM about some other product.
