WG sealant over 1Z mp, anyone?

I would like to know if anyone has tried WG sealant over 1Z mp with success. I have both of these but never tried them together. I really like the look of mp with all it's oils and wax but I am a little concerned that a polymer sealant might not bond well over it.:nixweiss
 
I think your gut feeling is correct. I don't think that sealants will bond to products containing oils. you might try washing your vehicle after the 1Z mp then use the WG.
 
WG is an oil-in-emulsion sealant and it has worked fine for me over Vanilla Moose which has a lot more oils than MP.



It's at least worth trying....:)
 
I'm going to give it a try Thursday on a new Blazer. If it works well with VM there's no reason it won't work well with mp. Thanks Scottwax.
 
Well I did the black Blazer today with SSR2.5 with LC yellow pad x 3, followed by one pass with 1Z MP with LC white pad then topped with WG DGS. :shocked Wow, I was really impressed with the look. Super wet and very reflective looking and probably a little more durability due to the waxes in MP. This is now my go to combo for black. A note regarding SSR2.5, I'm very impressed how well 2.5 polished up even with the cutting pad I used. There was almost no haze visible. I tried going from 1Z PP with cutting pad to MP with polishing pad on my car a while ago, and the results were not really good. I needed to use PP with a polishing pad then MP. With PB SSR 2.5 I can now omit that stage and go right to final polishing.:up Sorry I don't have any pics, customer needed vehicle back asap:( .
 
The oils in WG cure and will not be a negative factor. The oil in water emulsion is used to apply several compounds which are not all together compatable to clean paint. the emulsion guarrantees even distribution without separation of basically oil and water soluble compounds/chemicals.

DSVWGLI- Glad to hear you found a good approach with the SSR/MP/WG. I've tried some similar products (BF and UPP) over MP with generally good results but what *really* worked great was using the "Pro" version of MP instead of the pink consumer stuff. The Pro version still has oils/waxes/etc., but not quite as high a content as the pink stuff- this eliminated the occassional smearing/bonding issues that would sometimes crop up. The Pro MP has slightly more cut, too- just enough that it actually does a little work. Since you're doing cars for customers, you might want to give it a try. It's only available in 1 liter (round) cans, though.
 
I second Accumulator's experiences with Pro-MP (thanks gt1today). Works great with many sealants. The wax content is a polymeric type. Need I say more. ;)

Yes, a synthetic wax with a polymer content? (or am I thicker than usual?)

Is it just the pro version were the wax has a polymer content or both ( MP & pro MP )?
