WG products for new car

Hi,

3 weeks ago I purchased a new car (Toyota Prius). This is the first new car I've had, so I'd like to take care of it properly from the beginning. I'm leaning towards trying the Wolfgang line of products.

After washing & claying it, I'm wondering since the car is new, is it neccessary to use WG Pre-Wax Polish Enhancer prior to using the Deep Gloss Paint sealant? Would there be anything on the paint at this point that the Pre-Wax Polish Enhancer would address (i.e., swirls, scratches, old wax, etc)? My untrained eye sees none of this. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Mike,
My principle has always been to do as little polishing and as much waxing as possible on any car. What colour is it?
On Wolfgang, I have not used the entire line. Although some on here prefer other products, I've never heard anyone complain about them.
We'd have to see pics to know what the car needs, but most new cars need wash, clay & wax/sealant. Some black cars have dealer installed swirls.

Congrats on the new car, and way to go getting a hybrid !!!!

I am a WG fan and am familiar with their entire line, matter of fact I have it on 2 of my personal cars right now. :) It's the product I started with about a year ago, and it's the product I keep going back to after trying most of the other popular products that you hear so much about on these boards. I love it on my dark cars as well as my dark silver car.

Anyway, I would recommend using the Pre-Wax Enhancer prior to the Sealant... it'll prep the surface and give it a little extra shine before putting the sealant on. I agree with PEI about doing as little polishing as is necessary, but, this product is like AIO in that it works chemically and not with abrasives.

Make sure you get the WG Spray Sealant, also. Easy way to maintain the finish...

Welcome to the site Mike ....I'm north of you in Sonoma County...I did a brand new Prius about a month ago.....If you have clayed the car, then the pre-wax polsih will take any swirls that are on the paint out....being that this is a new car you shouldn't have that much to worry about.....Then the sealant will make the paint stand up nicely....I would also look at a good paste wax to followup with that .....if all this seems overwhelming send me a PM and we can talk on the phone or better yet you can drive up my way and we can "get her done!"

I say that if you are going to clay then you should polish. However I try to polish as little as possible. I would get a good polish that's non-abrasive (a filler) and use that. It will make the wax look a lot better then without a polish

ps. nice name I'm also a mike A

I also have a brand new car (1 mo.) and so does my wife. Mine is a red GTI and I want to use Poorboys products on it. The paint is in excellent shape on the GTI with just a couple small areas with bearly seen swirls.

The previous posts recommend against polishing if not necessary, but I was thinking about going this route and wanted some feedback. If you think I can get away without polishing, let me know:

1-Wash Poorboys Super Suds
2-Clay Meg's Claybar and QD
3-Poorboys Polish w/Carnauba-Blue
4-Poorboys EX Sealant w/Carnuaba
*Maintain w/Poorboys Seal and Gloss

Is it OK to put the EX sealant on "after" ithe PWC, since PWC has carnuaba? Should I even bother to polish this brand new paint?

Thanks

I do this process on allot of the cars that I detail....makes a great finish and there is no bonding issues with P-w-C and EX-P that I have ever seen

Thanks, Dave. BTW----Is the PWC a chemical polish or mechanical?

I really don't know but if I had to guess its not a chemical product...I know that Pro-Polish is chemical polish.

I just like the AIO process of P-w-C in some cases with my cars thats all I do then Nattys on top....looks great IMO

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your replys. I'll go ahead & use the Pre-wash Polish Enhancer. I've also ordered the Deep Gloss Spritz Sealant as well. The Prius' color is Seaside Pearl, which is sort of a real dark sky blue, if that makes sense. When UPS delivers the supplies, it'll be time to roll up my sleeves and get to work on keeping it sparkling :) This forum is a great resource, learned a lot from lurking; Thanks again!

Good choice on the WG product line! My 06 Honda Civic is Royal Blue Pearl which is fairly dark; I image pretty similiar to yours. WG should make your car look sweet! Here is a link to a pick of my Civic dressed in WG on the Autogeek.net site: http://www.autogeek.net/wococarca.html

I typically put on 2 or 3 layers. Since the sealant only requires a 12 cure time, it makes it alot easier to put on multiple layers without having to leave it garaged for days-on-end.

Make sure to post some picks when your done !!
