Anthony,
Out of curiosity, what contaminant were on those spots?
Good luck on the wet-sanding job and hope to see the after pics when you are finished! You are a brave soul, my friend -- I'd have trouble sleeping if I knew the job wasn't done but thats just me - I'm not too experienced in wet-sanding. First time was in my Paint Refinishing School and a few more after that.
You're the man!
Hey thanks for the vote of confidence Brian:xyxthumbs
As for the overspray........well it is not road paint because it would be more on the lower panels where the tires would kick it up....also there is no pattern to the spots, as if they were flung up on the paint with force but rather they were perfectly rounded.
My client believes he got the overspray while having his car parked at the boat dock parking lot. Whatever it was it is not your ordinary paint overspray that most of us are used to. I wish I had known the source as this would have helped a great deal in knowing how to remove it.
I don't like leaving the car half finished either but since 90% of my clients are physicians I pretty much have to work on thier cars based on thier schedules, which are very screwed up most of the time
I still have some overspray on the side view mirrors and a few spots on the bumpers. I didn't wetsand these areas because they are plastic so I'll have to do them by hand

As for wetsanding yourself.....just get an old car door or hood and practice on it. Mercedes paint, at least all but the new Ceramiclear, respond well to wetsanding and I have never sanded through a finish. In fact on this S430 I still have some slight orange peel so I know there is a decent amount of top coat left.
It looks ugly at first and you always get scared the first few minutes but then you relax and get busy
I'll get the AFTERS up as soon as I have it done.
Adios:wavey
