Wet Diamond question...

I was wondering if you use 3M Hand Glase to fill in minor scratches and then you apply a polish and then later a wax could you in effect seal in the hand glaze so it won't wash out quickly?

You can cover it with a carnuba based wax that has no cleaning agents in it. Most cleaner waxes which may be high in abrasives or solvents tend to wash out the fillers upon application.

You can't cover with sealants because the IHG will not allow the sealants to bond with the paint.

Why is it that Carnaubas like Blitz are assumed to work well and "bond" over the IHG while sealants cannot? Is it that the waxes generally don't last that long anyway? Just curious.

I just put zaino on over 3m imperial hand glaze the other night. Didn't bother stripping it off as it would have been too much work. It looks great. Who know's if it bonds or not but I'll let you know how long it lasts in a few weeks or so. I'm hoping it locked those glaze oils in.

CHEVYZ71,

If you put Zaino over IHG, don't expect it to last long. It would not have been much work to strip it off, you could have just washed your car with dawn and the IHG would have been removed.

I doubt that the Zanio bonded to the paint :( Some here tried Klasse over IHG and it did not bond at all.

Chevy- I don't use Zaino, but im guessing if you used the Polish Lock step it removed the IHG.

IHG, IMHO is about as good as Meguiar's Gold Class Wax, looks great @ first, but wait a week and about a wash and the look goes down hill really fast. You probably better off using 3M SMR and/or Finesse-it and prep the paint really well and seal it up with Klasse or Zaino.

I agree. The polish lok really dried out the glaze. I only used the glaze as I'm trying to rid myself of it before I buy a tub o finesse it and a tub o smr. I hate to waste if ya know what I mean. I'm not too worried over the longevity as this vehicle is lucky it even got the glaze :p

But the results are phenominal I must say and as I said I'll update everyone in a week/month on how it's lasting. Nothing like a little experiment to liven up a week.

;)

Was this sealant designed to work the best with blacks, reds, and other solids?
What about light metallics?

I use it on Metalic Silver. Nothing I have ever used, makes my car look as good. This just might be the absolute BEST product on the market today (you think I like this stuff). It will make any color look good.:thumbup::thumbup:

I'm not so sure you can design a product to work best with certain colors because what some people think looks best on some colors others will think looks bad and vice a versa.

In general products that are advertised as looking great on solid/dark colors tend to be distort the surface slightly, causing a visual increase in depth. However this distortion can/will reduce reflection slightly (it's what distortion does).

Products that are advertised for light colors/heavy flake tend to be very clear and increase reflection.

However there are plenty of people who like ultra glossy products on black and those who like a deep look on light colors.
