As far as covering the garage floor, we know the problems with paint and the best alternative seems to be the full mats from Sam's Club. I stumbled on these over at the Cobra Club forum and have not heard of anyone mentioning these before.

Anyone seen these? They certainly look viable.

I really like the look of it!

But I dont think that it would work for me.... I wash in the garage and I dont think that it would'nt work out to good.

So the epoxy paint they sell at Home deot for my garage is not any good? I know that you have to degrease, acid etch, primer and apply the one coat epoxy. Then you need to let it cure for 7-8 days before you drive anything on it.

Any other epoxys that are better out there?

I used to have an epoxy coat from Home Depot on my garage floor. It held up decent for about 3 years, but it tended to dull and stain.

I now have a polyurethane based floor coat (same stuff they use in airport hangars and auto dealer garages) and it is far superior. No staining and I just use a dust mop on it and a wet mop about once a month. I love it.

Not really, most of it is junk. Even if you acid etch it will still probably lift under hot tires. I tried a couple different ones and they all sucked. Finally a friend of mine who is a contractor did my garage floor with some professional stuff and they got the floor spotless first (Acid etching, sanding and even grinding in some places). It's holding up great with no problems, not even with hot tires.

I saw this link and some recommendations from the Cobra Club gang. Not sure if it is better but it is all in the preparation - something that we should all understand. The best wax on swirls only makes the swirls shine more!

KIWI and tuffdeck is about $3 per square foot so it ain't cheap.

I emailed this company for price info.

"We price per square foot. We are competitive with Epoxy

and Granite Chip/Paint applications. Our product iswarrantied for 10 years and willprobably last 20 or more years.

It can be replaced 1 square footat a time and it can be taken with you - if you move. Our durability and realiability make

pricing an unfair advantage for our products. Dividing the number of trouble free years into the price attests to that. 2 car garages/400 sq.ft. are approx. $3.25 /sq.ft. 500 and over sq.feet is $2.99/sq.ft. Install is priced .25 to .39 depending on the time to install based per sq.ft."

Well I solved it with cheap commercial floor tile, like in a school or a store. Prep the floor well, this was a brand new garage, but I still etched it, covered it with latex, then used an indoor / outdoor adhesive. I also carefully filled the stress seam and any chips with floor leveler.

I do have to be carefull, and I've put pads under thing that might dent it. This picture is older, 3 or 4 years, but if I cleanup up the workshop, and gave the floor a good mopping and quickie wax it wouldn't look much different.

Total cost for an very oversized one car garage, under 200 bucks. and I have a fair amount of tile leftover.

Hopefully I can edit this proprly and eliminate the pic, and point you to my Website !!

That's a nice car you have there. :) Is that the 427 without the side pipes yet or the 289? SteveMoriarty (sp?) has a Cobra too. I'm in the process of building one. :up

I wish, it's just a 350. Unfortunately I bought it many years ago, and have been too busy to get back to it. Doing things like building that garage, and other remodeling, along with working

KingCobra

Looks like a pretty nice garage setup to me. :up Given any consideration as to what color and what type of paint will go on the cobra?

Yea it's a 67 427 replica, I've got the 351w in it already and most of the major work done.

I plan on Black, or that strange color (mystique ??) I think Ford had that changes somewhat depending on the light. It's still basically black though. I saw a silver one last year I really liked, but I don't think the brown interior will work out as well.

I was looking for something more formal, not stripes, no roll bar, standard bumpers etc.

Cobra looks good. I think your be happy with your 351W. YOu'll love it. I have a 302 in my Cobra pulling out 415HP [just a little modified]. Car weighs in a 1894 LBS so my power to weight ratio is pretty heavy duty. I went for the small block because I campaign the car [KEMRIT] on the road courses in CA & elsewhere. The 427 just doesn't handle road racing very well. Almost all the road races that Shelby won in the Cobras were won with small blocks.

Yea, but I really have to get my BUTT in gear and finish that thing.

I keep getting distracted, like building that garage (workshop) it's sitting in. Remodeling the basement, etc.

But I really am trying to find the time.

I really wouldn't have wanted a big block, this thing should be just south of 400hp, and roughly the same fp. But pretty civilized, about the only issue is the 3.0 posi rear, but the T-5 has the extra low first. I may be just a tad slower out of the hole, but look out once I'm rolling.

Looking good! I like it much better than yesterday...

Some hyperlinks from menus are a bit too slow but a little database tweaking will fix that.
