Waxing question on new cars

Hi

When can you actually apply wax (Rubbing Compound, Swirl Removers, Glaze) on a new car??

My owner's manual states that you cannot not use rubbing compound when the vehicle is still few months old.

Thanks for answering my question.

First, you shouldnt need rubbing compound for a new car. That is something you will only need for serious problems on your paint. Most new cars today are reay to be glazed and waxed by the time they reach you.

If you run a search, you will get a plethora of information, alot more than I can answer for you in one post. I would also recomend downloading the e-book by David Bynon. It has a wealth of detailing information.

If the owners manual says not to do it then I'd listen to it. Depending on how new that new car is will have something to do with it. Most new cars are a few weeks old before they hit the lot. By that time I'm sure the paint and clearcoat have cured. You shouldn't really need to use a rubbing compound like Bolton said. If its a brand new car with swirls then I'd send it back. lol You should be ok to wax it though. If you waited a month or so after the car was painted then you should be alright to use polishes on it. That's just my opinion though. I'm sure there is an autobody guy somewhere on this board that will shed some more light on it. Definatly try the search function. Try searching under things like 'Paint Cure Time" or something like that. :xyxthumbs
