Waxing chrome

Is there anything wrong with waxing (with 845) chrome plated (electroplated) parts? :think2

edit: parts being roll-bars and windshield trim plates, not rims.

No problems. I wax all sorts of chrome on motorcycles. From chrome plastic to actual chrome plated steel.

no problems here either....having that protective barrier always makes it esier to dry the parts off and keep them from spotting IMO

Good to know :D

Btw, if you need a laugh google it up to see some people's responses (non-autopean) on other forums, like "OMG! I'd never wax my chrome; too much disk to damage it!" :LOLOL

I'm on tons of motorcycle forums. These guys are more old school than any other group of people. They "wax" their bikes with Pledge furniture polish. Wash it with Windex and so on. The same guys that won't wax their chrome will "clean" it with an SOS pad though. haha

I've been waxing chrome since forever and it's never caused any problems.

On the "chromed plastic", I've used *MANY* coats of KSG to actually retard peeling when the "chrome" stuff started to come off. It's been keeping the XJS's grille original for years now, had it not arrested the problem I woulda had to replace it.

I have chromed stock wheels on my SS and the company SUGGESTED that i put a good coat of wax on them if they ever start looking dull or faded......so go crazy :woot:
