Wax Test

I decided to do a wax test on the hood of my Dakota before I polished it out in a few months.

I applied in left to right:
1. Natty's Whiite (on fender)
2. 1z Glans
3. Meg's NXT 2.0
4. Mothers Reflections + Top Coat
5. Mothers Reflections
6.Collinite 476
7. Mothers Carnuaba Wax (fender)

The truck has sat outside under pine trees and with a heavy coat of pollen since March 15. I washed it this weekend for the first time using PB SSS (1 oz per 3 gallons) and picture 2 was just after the wash but prior to drying.

Shortly after the wash pic was taken (by the time I put the camera up), the collinite section has sheeted most of the water away. There was also not much on the Natty and Mother pure wax sections (both on fenders). The other sections did not show much sheeting. I probably should have done the hose test just after waxing to observe beading/sheeting properties. I did not use the flood method to help remove the water.

It rained this morning (the second day after washing) and all sections do seem to bead decent beads under light rain. No real difference between the sections.

BTW, I could not tell any obvious difference visually or clear differences in slickness upon initial application.

I personally love collinite and that is all I have used since the first day I started detailing the actually make it where I grew up and used to live great stuff. It works even better on marine applications.

Collinite does work well on RV/Marine.

It will be interesting to hear about your durability results with the Meg's NXT 2.0.
It gets a bad rap for not lasting, but I had no problem with either the new 2.0 or the original version lasting 4 to 6 weeks for me. That's about as long as I go without applying more anyway.

Ha, I am disappointed. I washed the truck last weekend with DP Rinseless Wash and Gloss and saw no different in any section that was not pure speculation. So, 476s started strong but is so far doing no better than anything else. I am guessing the pollen in NC is no match for the salt in Yankee land.

Hey, its only been 17 days.
I would be disappointed if any of the products were looking bad that soon. Almost every LSP I have ever used lasted at least 4 to 6 weeks.

Whoops, that's not quite true. I forgot.
The old Turtle Wax in the green glass bottle back in the 50s was only good for about a week or one wash whichever came first.

I am not saying any is bad but 476 is no longer standing out in the beading/sheeting department. They all seem to be there and creating beads (not little round ones any more). I am thinking how I can do some special test to see what is doing better. The next wash will be with PB SSS. The rest of the truck is a quilt work of waxes (I have a map that Indiana Jones would like).

My truck is outside sitting under NC pines and a few other trees with birds dropping goodies on a regular basis. Trees seem to do it to most any wax (carnauba, synthethic, or imagined).
