wax suggestions

Hello, I just purchased a new 04 Silverado, and really would like to get a few coats of a heavy duty wax on it before winter sets in and becomes to cold to wax.

right now I use Meguiars gold class on my summer car applied with the UDM. Up here in Maine the road salts can be pretty harsh, so I am looking for something that will stand up over the winter.

Also, what do you guys use to remove pine sap? When they detailed my truck before I bought it they said they used a little paint thinner & rubbed it gently. My dad has some on his hood, and didn't really like the thought of that to much.

I'll recomend either Collinite 845 (didnt care for 476) and Duragloss #105TPP. Both can be found local and work awesome.

You can even put down a coat of #105 and then top it with 845 for extra protection

Alright, thanks for the input.

Here is a before and after picture of the truck at the dealers then at home. I got a heck of a deal for how dirty is was.

Looks better, but it seems you have some hard water spotting in the last pick. One word of caution, make sure your paint is prepped properly to help the waxes bond better and last longer. Waxes or sealants dont bond well to paint damage, so if that is taken care of, your waxes will look better and last longer.

Yep, i plan to strip it down and polish it with the UDM. I have the pinacal polishes which should take a lot of that stuff off. Least I hope anyway.

Two of the most durable stuff I have used:

1. SONAX Nano Lack Protect - this is a coating to be used on well-prepped paint.

Claimed to last 12mths. Hv tried washing treated panel with strong multipurpose

cleaner, and it still beaded very strongly. Comes in a very small aerosol can.

2. Rejex - seems to be very durable to me.

btw, if you do use 845. I don't think you'd need a FEW coats. I think 1-2 will last you throughout the winter easily. I think anymore and it'd be a waste of product.

If you have an Andersons Warehouse near by, they sell 845 for like $10.99. They have most of the 303 products on clearance. But I think Andersons is local to Ohio.:doh

I would suggest Collinite 845, and just one coat will last months. There is little if any added value from multiple coats of a carnauba wax, in my opinion.
